Normally I wouldn't know this, but I am a medical student and I learned this at school. Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura is the disease of the blood coagulation system. The treatment is called plasmapheresis, and basically, that is exchange transfusion. Removing your fathers blood, and changing it with some other persons blood. There is a chance of recovery, but after the procedure, your father will really have to look out for his health.
