Hi everyone,
I'm getting my tonsils out on Friday. I have a one year old and reading everyone's posts freaked me out. I don't know if I should go through with it now. My husband will have Monday off, so I will have him around for the first 4 days, but after that I'm on my own.
Is this something I can handle? Or should I try and find extra help?
Any suggestions on a grocery list as well?
Thanks everyone!

Just from observing my husband (31)...I would suggest having a friend, realtive, babysitter, someone there to babysit not only your little sweetie but you as well. My hubby was in no condition to even attempt to watch our children for 7 full days...and even then I only left the older ones with him. Also, a one year old requires lifting and constant chasing...you need rest! :-)
Grocery list....
ensure (or some high protein shake)...your body needs protien to heal and you most likely won't feel like woofing down meat!!
pudding, ice cream. yogurt...all those yummy things!!
soups...low sodium and bland...spices hurt the throat
some good books and movies!!!
What we did with groceries....I bought the basic things above, then, he told me what he wanted when he was feeling like eating. I went to the store for some nutty stuff! Like peaches and cottage cheese, black eyed peas, ahi tuna...lol. He pretty much stuck to a soft diet...well, we are on day 11 and he still is on a soft diet!!!
**keep in mind milk products do "coat" the throat. but can also cause mucus...my hubby just chased ice cream, etc with water and it helped..cause he did say it felt wonderful on his throat.
Best of luck...and remember to take it easy. Pamper yourself! If you do too much too soon, you will end up in more pain and could risk bleeding.

Thanks! Your post did help.
I'm on Day 6 and I still am miserable. Day 4,5 & 6 has been bad, but I suspect tomorrow could be better.
Doc had to call in a steroid to get the swelling down. I was crying because the Lortab hurt so bad going down. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Thanks! Hope your hubby is feeling better soon.
