I am a 33 year old female. I am a smoker and have been for a long time. I suffer allergies to pollens (nothing extreme) and have some food sensitivities to soy and am lactose intolerant. I haven not been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but have periods of time with loose stools that can last for weeks or months which I have never sought treatment for, chalking it up to my allergy to soy and the fact that it is in virtually any food one buys these days. I have sinus headaches on a regular basis and have had since childhood.
Until this point I may have had 5 yeast infections in my life. I recently (3 months ago) began having sex with a new partner. About a month ago, I developed itching and discharge and eventually swelling - very severe. I used an over the counter yeast treatment (3 day) and the problem seemed to clear up.
I have had loose stools for the last two months. There is seldom any urgency, though once in a while I have explosive diarrhea. I do not otherwise feel sick. I have lost at least 10 pounds in the last few months. I attributed this weight loss to exercise (yoga and change from a sedentary lifestyle to a more active one).
After more sex, the problem with the “yeast” reappeared, though it was less severe, and I went to the Doctor. I told her that I thought there might be a problem with the condoms and that maybe I was sensitive to latex or silicone lubricant. She seemed to think this was ridiculous. She examined my discharge on the gloved finger she inserted into me and prounced it yeast. She said the problem was the partner and not the condoms. She prescribed Fluconazole tablets for me and my partner to be taken once a week for three weeks along with a topical cream to be used externally on both of us and vaginal suppositories for 6 days for me.
After this I got a severe headache that lasted for three days. The pain was a distraction, and although I tend to have sinus headaches, this was notably worse than the norm.
During the yeast treatment, there were no obvious signs of vaginal irritation. The diarrhea continued, but I didn’t think much of that. Once the six day regime of the ovules was completed, I developed burning after sex again after use of latex condoms. There was also minor swelling in both eyelids, lumps in the outer corner of my eyelids which I really thought nothing of at the time.
I made a small scratch on my arm and taped a piece of condom to it. It swelled up and turned red and I decided that there would be no more latex. At this time there were no yeast symptoms either, but the swelling in my left eye became a stye which eventually became infected. I went to an Opthamologist who prescribed and antibiotic/steroid topical treatment for the eye. It began to improve immediately and after a week is completely healed. Still no yeast symptoms at that time.
I also got a bump on my top lip around this time. I did not hurt or itch and I kept worrying it with my teeth and it does not seem to be going away. It is a little hard under the flesh. It has been there for a little over a week.
I followed up with the Gynecologist and just in case had a vaginal swab done and shared with her what had happened with the latex I had taped to my arm. She seemed then to lend some credence to my latex theory. This was the day of the final Fluconazol tablet which I did not take after all, thinking the problem was the condoms and not a yeast and having gotten very sick to my stomach after taking the last couple of pills. That was two days ago. I received no visual exam, pelvic exam or pap smear.
Last night I noticed some itching and it seems the yeast is back. I took the final pill (Fluconazol - 2 days late) and of course, still have the stomach problem. The yeast is not painful or otherwise very irritating. I only note a minor itch and change in the consistency of the discharge.
I am concerned that I might have HIV. The last time I tested, I did it with a partner and that was 10 months ago. We both tested negative and since that time I have not engaged in risky behaviors. The only other correlation I see anywhere between the gastorintestinal symptoms I have and the yeast, besides HIV, are systemic yeast infections (common to people with compromised immune systems) and the parasitic infection of Giardia. Maybe I’m making too much of the bump on my lip, but I find this in conjunction with the other symptoms very troubling.
I am at a loss as to what sort of doctor I should see. I am in a foreign country and have a hard time expressing my symptoms to doctors. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? Suggestions as to what this might be? Ideas about what sort of specialist I’d be best off making an appointment with?

What have you ever found out?
The reason I ask is that I have almost the exact same symptoms as you. I am a 30 year old male. And yes I have had recurring yeast infections (uncircumsized).
I don't have any reasons to suspect HIV in myself but at this point I don't know what could be going on.
Another possibility, based on your loose stools and general symptom profile, is ceiliac disease aka gluten allergy. From what I understand it can cause vitamin defficiencies that can lead to recurring yeast infections and generally poor health, not to mention the potential IBD. I plan to test for this myself.
Sincerely hoping all is well. Please do respond back with whatever you have found out. I will do the same.
