For about 2 months now I've had skin on the left hand side of my shaft that is red and has little shiny bits (it's not raised) it's not painful and it just feels dry, I went to the GP and he said it was nothing but I don't really trust his opinion.

It most likely is a simple dermatological issue. The skin on the penis is very thin and extremely sensitive to chemicals and even many natural ingredients. It may be a reaction to your soap, your laundry detergent, the way that side of the shaft rubs against your clothes, etc. Try using a first rate penis health cream (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil).
