I'm 15 and I've had these white bumps on my shaft for as long as I can remember. I told my doctor about it when I went in for a check-up last year, and he said that there is nothing I can do about them :( It would be really great if there was like a cure for these things because they are just ugly and unattractive.

You can get these bumps removed by a dermatologist. It is minor surgery and it will be embarrassing (I don't know why because they are natural but it's still embarrassing), but just get it over with and be straight up about it.

The minor surgery involves getting an anesthetic shot (sometimes multiple), then the bumps are cauterized. The shots are minor pinches and don't really hurt as bad as you might think, the part that sucks is after. Penis swells and hurts from the cauterization.

Results? smooth, there may be white scars, but better then the bumps in my opinion.

I have one that was kind of bothering me on friday, and now today (sunday) it is severely swollen and hurts when touched. Do i need to talk to a dermatologist or a urologist? This isnt the only one i have but its the only one that is badly swollen? also is there anything i can do to nurse it until i make an appt?

I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between Sebaceous Glands and Fordyce Spots. To me they look quite similar and I can't tell which one I have. Also if anyone knew any treatments without going to the doctors that would be great!

Thanks

I'm 20 had these since i can remember, I have been in 3 long term relationships, each lasting multiply year, took all 3 girls at least a year before they even asked or noticed, and we were having sex very regularly. Don't worry about them, none of these girls ever got freaked out about it, didn't bother them at all when i explained it, and they're not even going to notice to begin with, don't let it make you nervous, or worried about what a girl will think, just be confident in yourself, and if they are freaked out about it, maybe there not the girl for you.

I'm 26. I second the advice above. I've been with plenty of girls since I noticed these at like 13 or so. No girl has ever noticed. The only one that even knew was a girlfriend of 6 years who I actually told before she noticed. A couple of years into the relationship, I started talking about them (I figured she had seen them before) only to realize that she had never even noticed. She wanted to see and wasn't bothered when she did. For years I expected it to be a big deal if noticed, but for some reason it just never is noticed. If a girl ever had a problem I'd tell her they're overactive glands and to look it up on the internet - without feeling at all weird about it. Never even had to though.

Every human has sebaceous glands, they are just sweat glands. I have had these lumps since i was 12, nearly 22 now. They cannot be passed on as every person has them and it is a part of everyones body. I know most of you worry about them and whinge because they are noticeable, trust me, i understand you can see the lumps on my penis when flaccid and without having to look closely at it. My girlfriend of 4 years doesnt even care or worry about it, even she has little ones around her vagina though they arn't very noticable. If you watch porn you can even see most of the guys in them have noticable ones. The only problem with noticable sebaceous glands is confidence, if you dont worry or sook about it then hardly anyone will notice except for your significant other when you get one and even they will understand as they will probably have some somewhere on them.

The point is, if you sweat then you will get sebaceous cysts. Everyone has them. Some are more noticable then others but everyone has them. Stop worrying and get over it and go enjoy yourselves.

Washing it with a mixture of baking soda and warm water helps them go down. Make sure you get the purified sodium bicarbonate without the aluminium though, heavy metals do not belong on/in a human body.

I first got them when I was ten, I put up with them for a long time before I saw my doctor and was referred to a dermatologist. There is anew treatment that reduces them by zapping each gland with a laser. They are burnt off basically. It looks a lot better and I feel more confident now. Hope this helps.

I noticed a similar bump on my 5yr old son yesterday. Did some research and they are called sebaceous cysts.  I took him into my general doctor today (he also happens to specialize in skin problems). The way he removed it was by giving him a topical shot in the bump and then poking a little hole in the skin and scraping it which made the white puss like stuff come out.  No incision or stitches.  He put a bandaid on it and we were done.  Tonight I had him soak in the bath and cleaned it.  Still a little swelling from the shot but it looks so much better.   The doctor said it shouldnt come back, he doesnt remove them unless asked. I felt that it was best to have removed early to him my sons self confidence. So all you young men that are embarrassed by this its fine to tell your moms or go to the doctor.  If my 5yr old could go thru it with no crying you will be fine. Hope this helps.

Had these since I'm about 13 - I'm 21 now! Really really effected me growing up since I was always(still am) afraid to get a BJ off a girl. I wouldn't want to put this near her mouth! After reading this post and the other lads talking about how if someone comments - to just explain what they are and tell them to google it I think I might be a bit more comfortable now. To the woman above me - I think them "cysts" are just glands that get out of control. I have many many little white lumps on my penis and occasionally one of them gets out of control and needs to be burst! I think that might be what your son had - but don't think you've rid him of this problem as I think if he had one nasty cyst he will get many many more of the white bumps! (Hopefully not!) I think I might take another trip to my doctor about this now

I'm 20 years old and I have visited a dermatologist to address this matter. He said that it was a normal to look like this, some people have subtle sebaceous glands and others do not and that was nothing I could do about it.It's said because it really affects the aesthetics of the thing but oh well...
