After the death of my son two years ago, my other boy started having trouble with his social behavior and attention at school. His teacher advised me to take him to a specialized doctor, which I did. After only one appointment, he was prescribed with a drug called Ridelin(sp?). I read a little bit about this drug and realized it was a stimulant. I am not so sure if I should give this drug to my child. Can you please help? Thank you

I would only confirm what you have read and advise you to get second opinion. This drug is prescribed to children who suffer from Attention deficit disorder and more than ever, drugs like this are prescribed to those poor children. There are many bad side effects of this drug but still many doctors prescribe it without thinking. I think your child suffers from a trauma because of his brother loss and not a chemical imbalance in the brain. Some reports even say that Ritalin causes more damage and benefits to the brain and the brain functioning.
