As they say Rytalin could be used of everyone, except children under 6 years old. Something like safety and efficacy in that age group have not been established. How come they are allowed to write about that when I heard rytalin has so many side effects, and not just that then also it can cause death!? Little Mathew died at age 14 and that was due to the use of Rytalin used for ADHD, so I wonder how that medicine is still on the market?

Until recently there were no studies made for examining the rate of psychotic symptoms cause by routine treatment with stimulant drugs. Methylphenidate (Ritalin) and amphetamine (Dexedrine, Adderall) are common drugs used for that kind of disorders, as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), ADD, ODD, LD etc are. Actually, those are in no sense true diseases and there are no reliable diagnostic methods for them. Doctors who prescribe stimulant drugs often seem obvious to them as causes of appearance psychosis, including maniac-like and schizophrenic-like disorders. Recently on TV was a well-known expert in child psychiatry who debated and took the position that prescribed stimulants “never” cause psychoses in children.
What is at the end answer to this widespread, unwarranted use of medication in the treatment of children? While we respond to the conflict and distress in our children subduing them with drugs, we will not address their needs. We all need (both and parents and teachers, therapist, physicians) to retake responsibility for our children. On the individual level our children needs more of our time and energy because nothing can replace the personal relationship with parents. Until we all conceive this our children will be treated wrong.
