Hello. I went to doctor because of my back pain, and it turned out that I have Schmorl’s disease. MRI showed that I have Schmorl's nodes on my spine. Is there anyone with the same condition?

Hi, I am 18 years old and I have Schmorl's nodes too. I found out about them when I had XRays taken a few months ago. I had a back pain near the thoracolumbar junction. I can’t remember the specific motion that caused the onset of pain. When I am resting the pain is relieved, but it occurs again when I try to have a physical activity. I am afraid that Schmorl’s disease could leave damages that will remain throughout my life. A doctor told me that this disease is self-limiting, and that extensive treatment is not required, but I am considering rehabilitation program anyway. It is an initial rest period followed by a gradual return to full activity that helps people, especially athletes to return in form.

I have this condition and was only recently told about by no.6 specialist that i visited..I have herniated L4,L5 and S1..Recent mri's discovered this *desease...Specialist informs me that it is common, with 1 in 25 people are born with this condition..It is often noticed when one has an injury and this points the dr to it..He also told me that a person who has a heavy lifting load at work (Nurses, bricklayers etc) are more prone to diagnosis early because of injury..He didnt say anything about treatment and told me not to worry too much about it..But he did say.. *Nicotine will effect the lining of the disks..by thinning them out thus exposing yourself to an injury..Strengthen of the back muscles thro swimming, physiotherepy all help to prevent the deterioration..
