Ok. Now day 7 is approaching and I have had a miserable day. Its as if I am getting worse each day. I went to psychiatry today and we had a very brief meeting and she has suggested I try not to do anything for the next four or five days. She didn't think I would come in today because my surgery was on April 11 and its only been 6 days. I told her I have a serious feeling of doubt that I had hoped she had some opinion or reservation for me. I certainly asked about her opinion about increased medication and if I should question the doctors opinion that now I should just settle into a six week pattern of minimal activity and try not to concern myself with anything but recovery. Now I am curious what others have done or are doing prescription wise to alleviate the pain. Each person has different metabolisms and differing abilities to get through the tough pain. So I know asking what others do or have done might be a little far fetched to try to give myself a sense of what to expect for myself. I am curious what others do chemically to help. I am taking a 10mg oxycontin extended release medication every 12 hours to help the breakthrough medication be more assertive. And my breakthrough medication is 10mg of percocet along with a 10 mg oxycodone instant release to be taken every 4-6 hours to bring pain level down. Is this considered a lot? Also, the pain level changes from a 9 level to maybe 6 if activities are minimal in about 20 minutes after taking the total of 20 mg of oxycodone with 325mg of acetaminophen. This pain reduction stays fairly stable for about an hour and thirty minutes. After that the pain starts increasing quickly, maybe about 30 minutes to the extreme worst what I feel is a 9.9 out of ten. Then the next hour and a half is almost intolerable and this brings on crying, breathlessness, and immobility. This cycle has not changed since surgery 7 days ago and like the first surgical procedure, there are a lot of pains that are different and new and the problematic pains I had before surgery seem to have increased since surgery. If anybody has any opinions after their surgery what worked for them can I please get any feedback? I am 5 foot 10 inches tall and weigh 180. Prior to surgery I was taking 10 mg oxycontin extended release with 10 mg of percocet 4 times a day with a similar cycle of 30 minutes before breakthrough brought pain down to a 4-6 for about 2 hours. Does anybody get their pain to go down to a consist ant below 5 number for any length of tine? If so may I ask what they do to get these results? Again this typing is enough to create bad pain from the top of my head down to the middle if my back so I need to settle into a position that minimizes my pain. Please respond, all information is good information. Thanks, Jon

I had ACDF surgery, and now have muscle problems every morning and throughout the day and night. Currently, I'm on morphine, oxycodone, diazepam, and gabapentin and I don't know what to do to stop the pain. Shouldn't all I am taking be enough?
