Hello,
I just turned 24 last week, I've been married almost 7 weeks and I've been sexually active for nearly nine months. I've noticed over the past few months that I have severe pain after sex during ovulation or just before my period. Acutally, I start to feel it during sex, it's just that I feel the full effect after. It takes a very long time to subside, I can't stand up straight, it hurts to breathe too deeply, my whole body goes weak, no poisiton is comfortable, and if I had anything to eat before, I regergitate it.
There have been times I've had to crawl to the bathroom or just stand on all fours over the waste basket until it was all over. The pain radiates from my insides (like my ovaries and uterus) to my abdomen, back, hips and thighs. It's much worse than menstural cramping, and mine get pretty bad, but it's not the same feeling. I know sex can hurt sometimes when you're ovulating but this is ridiculous! I can't help but wonder if I should be alarmed.

You certainly should be alarmed and have this severe pain checked. It certainly isn’t normal. I am not saying that the cause is something life-threatening; I am only saying that you shouldn’t put up with this pain.

If it occurs around ovulation and periods, I would say that it could be either ovarian cysts or endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition in which the cells that form uterine lining (that we expel as our period) form on other places besides the uterus. The other organs could be ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder and even bowels. This condition can be quite painful around periods and cause painful sex.

I would suggest you made an appointment and had it examined.

I am having the same problem and can't seem to figure it out. I've had this problem for years and I have gone to the doctor. He said that he could not find any cysts on the outside of my ovaries. My deceased sister had endometriosis severly when she was in her early 20's. I am wandering could this be my problem because it only happens right before my period. I have the same crippling pain that last for about 20 to 30 minutes. ?
