I broke my kneecap in about 6 pieces in april of this year, falling down some concrete steps with my kid in my arms. Everything was severely displaced. Just my luck.. When I had the wires & pins put in the same day, the doctor said there was "cartilage everywere" when he opened up my knee and that the articular surface was not smooth anymore, so the prospect is early osteoarthritis. Then I broke the same damn thing all over again a month ago and had to have the hardware "redone". It feels like it will never be the same, and it makes me sad. I currently have about 60-70° ROM, was doing great at 120+° before the second fall. Pain is alright though, but sleep isn't. I am really worried I will never run again and turn into an achy old man with a limp now. Has anyone experienced this, and what is life like for you further down the line?
