Hello, I tend to experience brief, sharp, severe jabbing pains about the head that occur either as single episodes or as brief repeated volleys. The pain resembles a stab from an icepick, nail, or needle and typically lasts from a fraction of a second to 1 to 2 seconds. Idiopathic stabbing headaches may have the shortest duration of all known headaches. The frequency of attacks varies immensely, ranging from 1 attack per year to 50 attacks per day.I thought it was related to washing my hair and not drying it. The pain makes my head jerk, eye squint and is very embarrassing,  looks like I have epilepsy:O Then my head is very extreemly sensitive to the slight brushing of my hair.

I have fibromyalgia and dont want to say it is that because I want a single dose of medication to stop that pain! I see all of your posts but dont ever see a reply. Anybody?

Ive been getting the same thing for three years possably more now!!! I also have Fibro and have had an MRI because of it!!! The results were normal! nothing seems to cause it but it starts at the base of my skull on the Right side! If you get any answers please post them as I would like to know any info that I can get!! I wouldn't doubt it was just a symptom of the fibro just cause of the positioning of the pains!!! At this point there is nothing I can do!!!

I have/had the same symptoms. Chriopractic care takes care of it for me. I started Chiropractic care after hurting my back lanscaping my yard. A few adjustments around the neck clear up the shooting pains within a day. Regular stretching keep the shooting pains away. I see a full body Chiropractor. Hope this helps

I'm a 28-year old male with the same exact symptoms. Mine occur at the back/sides/top of my head. Pure torture. Tests and MRI of cervical spine normal. Nothing works for it. I have good days and bad days, mostly bad.

I have bad sharp pains in my head, not all the time perhaps three or four times a week. Can it be neuralgia? I have spinal stenosis. Is this connected to my head pains?
