Vasculitis (hives) is associated with Sjogren's and other AI disorders like lupus erythmetosus. These hives are distinguished from urticaria (also hives), which often have no known cause or trigger. Almost four years ago, I had terrible urticaria, along with chronic xerostomia and xerophthalmia, vomiting, nausea, and flu-ish symptoms. Had a complete immunological workup, and SS was definitvely ruled out via lip biopsy. For now. It was important to determine whether the hives were vasculitis or urticaria as part of the workup.

Even so, after a couple/few weeks I still had to go to the ER and have an IV steroid. That did the trick.
