I have been reading the comments regarding reactions to Monistat 1. I recently had oral surgery and was on penicillin for a week. Two days after taking the penicillin I developed a yeast infection. I purchashed Monistat 1 and two days after using it, I started getting this intense itching, swollen vagina that burns so bad when I pee I want to die!!! I also developed small blisters on the outside of my vagina and the inside of my labia looks like raw meat. I feel like I was burned by fire. I  continue to apply ice, 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Helps for awhile but the pain comes back. I went to the OB/GYN yesterday and she thinks its Herpes, but I have been with my boyfriend and only him for the past two years. He has not shown any signs of herpes whatsoever, so how could this be?  I was given some medication to treat the supposedly herpes and started taking it yesterday evening. I have been using lidocaine for the pain, but this just seems to make the burning worse. So I have taken 4 doses of the oral medication so far and I still feel bad.  I will get the results from the culture on Monday, until then, I am in agony.

Hi, i had the same problem, but i use to pop all the blisters clean them and dry really good then put some baby powder 3 times a day the burning will go away really soon and the blister will desapear within 2-3 days . This is caused by seating on publics restrooms, so try no to do that.

I read up on this a year ago extensively since it affects me too. I had been to four different doctors and four different specialties. No std's in my history. I tried changing toilet papers, soaps, laundry detergents, changed brands of underclothes etc. The last visit i had (a year ago) was to a dermatologist who told me that he has a ton of patients that come in with this kind of pain with a bag in hand of every remedy they have tried, and gave it a general vaginal and anal diagnosis and i walked out with yet again MORE topical ointments.

After months of pain, i found a link to one of those cheap newsletter things that you buy online... seems like it was $5.99 (can't remember what or where right now but can look for it). It gave steps to getting the pain under control initially. While i have flare ups here and there (mostly now after some of my bowel movements), they are easily now controlled with a bit of hemmorhoid medication now and again and keeping it really clean and dry after every bathroom visit is all i need to do.

Well, I'm 63 and haven't had a partner in almost 16 years...I mean none. So can't be herpes or std. But I think what happened is I used a bath was that was scented and it irritated me, or vaginal infection maybe both. I got the over the counter meds and am waiting to see if that works. One time dose but it can take 3 to 7 days to see results. I'm using special made soap for that area and baby wipes every time I use the restroom. Vaseline also helps. It got better but as soon as I used the special soap for that area I wanted to call the fire department...holy heck it hurt. So back to the neutragina allergy free soap. I got a name of a gyn just in case the one dose doesn't work. What a hell of place to hurt and burn. I feel for all of you. I'm strawberry red down there, but I don't see blisters or bumps.
I've had yeast infections and they can be pretty bad. You can get those from antiboitics, medicine, being to hot and moisture, Hope your all better. I m going to try the yogart. I've heard before it is good to use.

use a cream known as KENACOMB CREAM ....it is very efficient to calm your pain even if it is for a few hours you will be relieved at least.

When I had this sometime ago, I hadn't had a partner in over 15 yrs so knew it wasn't std, or herbes. When I was home I wore a house dress and no underwear as al underwear hurt. I used the one day to and it did take a few days to notice a difference. I read one lady tried yogart, not just eating but down there. Oh my God what a relief. Sounds weird but it helped a lot I was so desperate I was willing to try just about anything. I used a scented soap in shower....never again. As I've gotten old my skin is super sensitive esp. there. So neutragina is all I use down there. Mostly whole body in fact but if I want special scented soap I use it once in a while and NEVER down there. So far no more problems. I feel for anyone who get this worse than any yeast infection I ever had. I eat yogart now to fairly often.

I came accross your post and thought maybe I could help. I had similar problems and for me it turned out to be an allergic reaction. No doctor ever figured this out. All doctors ever did was give me meds and ran STD checks with no results. So I decided to try anything. Allergies can surface at any time in your life. Always keep that in mind when your doctor gives you some lame general diagnosis for something that is so uncomfortable for you. So, try what I did and see if it helps!

1. If you wear tampons (even unscented) STOP!!. Wear only unscented thin pads like pantyliner size. On heavy days wear 2 liners side by side and change frequently to avoid accidents on your clothes.

2. Only wear cotton underwear! if it has any other material it could irritate you.

3. Change to a sensitive skin vaginal wash and dont clean your area with anything else. like summers eve or I find the Target brand (purple label) works really well.

4. Dont Douche!.

I made the changes above in my life 4 years ago and I have not had any yeast or bacterial infections or irritations of any kind in my area!

Take that GYN Dr.!!!

You could be experiencing an allergic reaction to milk or a certain food. We women have fluctuating hormones as well so first rule out an std. Chances are its an allergic reaction.

Its probably a yeast infection. I onve had the worse case of a yeast infection it left little sores (just a few) and literally I was raw down there. It happened during time of month and I thought I had an allergic reaction to pads but nope just a horrible case of a yeast infection.
