I seem to have a seasonal problem (3 years) with the left side of my tongue. It starts with a sore spot on the left side of my tongue. In the beginning I can have hot or cold drinks with no pain except for when I eat hot or spicy foods. The pain eventually progresses to the left side of my lips; gums and cheek. It is quite strange that the right side of my mouth would be perfect and the left would be so painful. This goes on for at least 5 months. Eventually eating or drinking anything is painful . Sometimes I would have to stop a conversation because the pain is just too much to continue. The left side of my lips eventually also become numb however, if I press that area it is still painful. When I first experienced this pain I saw a dentist; 2 doctors; an ENT specialist; 2 neurologists;an MRI and had a battery of blood tests done. The doctors and specialists have not been able to help me. I hope someone out there might have experienced something similar and can help .
