Is trichomonis infection that women have a std?

Loading...

Yes, trichomoniasis is a common sexually transmitted disease and it mainly affects sexually active women. The infection is spread sexually and it cannot be caught in the public toilets from toilet seats.
If symptoms are present at all (there may be no symptoms), they may be foul smelling, green vaginal discharge, vaginal itching and redness but it could also cause lower abdominal pain, urination urge or pain during sex.
The infection is easily treated by prescribing oral antibiotics. Partners need to be treated as well, so that infection wouldn’t reoccur. Sex during the treatment should be avoided but if not avoided, then a condom must be used, otherwise the treatment may be ineffective or the infection may be spread onto the partner.
