Hi all. So I’ve had this since high school but I have a dx for it.
It’s called costochondritis. Essentially, the ligaments that connect your sternum to your ribcage is inflamed, and when moving or force moves your chest, the inflamed ligament “pops” off the track, causing discomfort and pain.
Since it’s inflammation, medicines such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and panadol can/may help. There is no cure, and I don’t know what causes it, but it seems to be trauma (big or small; I was in gymnastics as well as a traumatic car accident that left my sternum internally bruised, but this was well before the costo.)
If it REALLY hurts, stick an ice pack on it to reduce inflammation.
