Same thing here...I stopped Ortho a few months ago-thinking it would help me lose a few pounds, but I've gained weight. I work out 5-6 days a week, keep my calorie intake down, but I feel like I'm blowing up!!! Especially around my belly-feel huge. I just want to know if I can lose the weight if I go back on the pill???

I am experiencing weight gain especially around my stomach since stopping the pill in October last year, I have been eating good and exercising and my weight is rising on the scales and my trousers tightening. It is very frustrating and after taking water retention tablets etc nothing is helping.....any advice on what else might help would be really appreciated...:-

Stay away from sodium. Thats the culprit. I gained 15 pounds and i have been on a cycle of gaining and losing weight ever since i stopped bc. If i eat 3 french fries, I gain 5 pounds. Just keep your sodium real low and potassium high and you should see a difference.

Follow up. I have been back on the pill for 3 weeks now. I have not bloated once. I could feel a change after just a few days. I don't carry the bloated, water weight anymore, but of the 13 lbs I had gained in the 8 months I was off, only 4 of them went off right away. The other ones are STUCK. So I have to work them off as normal. I am also working on getting the stomack to work like it did. I am not regular yet and are now taking probiotics and magnesium supplement to be able to go normally. That sucks. Wish I had never gone off the pill. Since I am in my late 40'ies, recently divorced and not planning more kids nor am i dating anybody I had gone off the birth control as I don't like to take chemicals or medicines for no reason. But it completely messed up everything. I have not been this heavy since right after having kids. It is hormonal I know that, as my eating habits and workout habits has been the same for years. Since going off the pill and starting gaining weight, I have added a 2.5 mile evening fast walk every dayin addition to my regular work out regime. So I will try to be patient and see how long it takes to go lose the remaining 9 lbs until my pre-stop birthcontrol weights. If anybody have found a solution to their weight issues, please post it.

I'm really interested in anyone who manages to lose the excess weight by staying off the pill! I came off the pill in the hope of planning a pregnancy amongst other things & at the moment the though of piling even more weight on doesn't appeal!
been off the pill 7 months now & the weight gain is stuck all round my stomach and thighs...exercise regularly and eat really healthy...really getting me down. Tried herbal tablets including chaste berry fruit but nothing happening at all.

Wow.......
I came here because since I have come off of birth control (specifically gianvi, a generic form of yaz). I have been on hormonal birth control since I was 15 with the exception of the one year to have my daughter. I am now 32.
Last August, I got my tubes tied and, came off of the gianvi. While on it, I managed to lose weight to be my lightest weight since middle school, didn't have bad periods, no facial hair, no problems with acne. Only suicidal depression, had my gallbladder removed, chronic yeast infections. I was 168 lbs at 5'9". I still had about 20 to lose to get to my goal weight from a top weight of over 300 lbs. But I was pretty close!
Since August, I am no longer irrationally depressed (other than about my weight), no yeast infections, no pms and very few periods. It is now May and I have only had 3. I have, however, gained to 201 lbs, have horrible chin acne and my body hair has grown faster and more thick. Also ......on my face. And shaving causes razor rash and ingrown hairs now.
I barely eat. Even take adderall. I walk 3-5 miles a day, outside of the 2 at work. 9 months. I can't exactly go back on it, because of the depression, but, I just need to know if this will ever stop. I am so upset. I am just coming up on my 1 year anniversary, and my husband has watched his new wife turn into a troll.

hey everyone! just like all of just stopped taking the pill 4 months ago and gained 8 pounds on my tiny 5'2 frame! its been harsh to say the least, though I think some of it was muscle from lifting weights which is a little better (p.s. lifting really helped lessen the blow I think-muscle burns fat) I also have only had one period since quitind and it was really light. HOWEVER, I did find some really helpful blogs written by nutritionists who have gone through the same transition and wrote a guide to help all of us getting our hormones back in balance. Really that is what this has all come down too, either too much estrogen or too much testosterone. I learned that our fat can even store residual estrogen from our BC. DONT go back on it! I think that going back on it could make things much worse in the future (especially if you want kids), I know I know "but ive gotten sooo FAT" I was tempted too, but learning more has convinced me throw out my BC!
THE BLOGGS: here are the links, they have given me hope! and its great because they have gone through it too! they pretty much involve eating certain foods, increasing good fat intake, relaxing more (so important! its easy to let our weight give us an anxiety attack), regulating sleep, taking DIM (to help rid the body of extra estrogen in our fat), taking maca powder (to regulate our hormones), staying away from food products like soy, cafeine and alcohol. you get the gyst.here you go ang good luck to you all on your journey, we WILL see a light at the end of the tunnel! ;)
