I had the same problem. I became quite depressed and very teary as it hurt a lot! So I decided to do my own remedy. I had two baths daily. Epsom salt but I had heaps of sea salt so I added heaps to the bath. I would only use goat milk soap as I was already sensitive. I let myself dry naturally. Then I applied savlon cream and mixed it with sterod cream I used tritone. It worked a treat. It took five days to notice a great difference but all Ican say its great to feel normal. I had a wonderful husband who was extremely supportive.

The most common explanation is a yeast infection if there is a curdlike discharge. if there is no discharge but there is redness, swelling, itchiness!! And burning pain, my dr just diagnosed me with adult diaper rash. She prescribed a cream nystatin and triamcino acetonide and then over that put on desitin (diaper rash cream for babies ). I am feeling the first relief I've had in 2 weeks!! Good luck

Hi, I have similar symptoms to all of you.  I had a week or two where I was very itchy and everything down there swelled up and turned bright red.  It was hell so I got some yeast infection medications (Canestan), but I realised that it was making the itching and burning a thousand times worse.  I tried loads of creams that were supposed to calm things down but their greasiness seemed also to worsen the problem; they just made the area hotter and more sore.  Then I tried Doublebase cream, which to my huge relief really calmed things down a lot.  But it didn't cure the problem completely.  So I went to the doctors and she tested me for thrush and gave me some anti-thrush oral tablets to take in the meantime.  (I get the result tomorrow).

Now I'm not so itchy, but I'm still feeling a bit swollen and I'm having really bad shooting pains all around my pelvic area, and a feeling of great heaviness.  An ultrasound I had recently for stomach pains identified huge varicose veins on my uterus, and the feelings I'm getting around my pubic area feel very similar.  So I am wondering if the itching and swellings I'm getting down there are also due to varicose veins.  Nobody's mentioned this on here before, so I just wanted to put it out there.  I need to see my doctor again soon, so I will suggest this and see what she thinks.  Varicose veins around the vulva and vagina are most common in pregnancy, but they're also possible when you're not pregnant, (and I'm not).  It's a really familiar feeling I get there, and I feel like it could be a possibility.

Did you get an answer from the doctor? I have this exact same thing!

Hi everyone,
After reading so many of these post, I realized that most of you have had almost if not all the same symptoms that I have had and have.  For 6 months a year ago I kept having the burning, itchy, stinging, white discharge and pain in the clitoris.  I went to see my gyno often. We ran lots of test which all came back negative.  Gave me medicines and creams which never helped.  Finally, he decided and referred me to a Urologist.  So I meet with him and he went over my records and decided that I should have surgery.  The procedure was called a Cystoscopy.  He performed the surgery by inserting a tiny scope through my urethra which would examine my bladder and everything around that.  Once I woke up from my anesthesia he said I have what you call Interstitial Cystitis also know as IC which Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a painful condition due to inflammation of the tissues of the bladder wall. The cause is unknown.

IC is often misdiagnosed as a urinary tract infection. Patients can go years without a correct diagnosis. On average, there is about a 4-year delay between the time the first symptoms occur and the diagnosis is made.

The condition is most common around ages 30 to 40, although it has been reported in younger people. Women are 10 times more likely to have IC than men.

He gave me antibiotics to help get rid of the infection in the bladder and it did, but did tell me that it can come back anytime because IC can not be cured.  Right now I am suffering from it again and I have to call my doctor tomorrow to see what he can give me.

I hope that I have answered some of your posts.  I know how frustrating this can be to not know what is wrong with you and feeling so darn crappy.

Here is a link that will explain a little more what IC is and tells you the right diets to be on for it.

I really hope that this helps all of you and is the answer to your problems.  Please let me know :)

5 weeks ago I began to get a shooting pain from what seems like my clitoris or clitoral hood. It was intensified by walking, sitting, moving around, etc. After a week of it getting worse, I went to 2 different doctors (different days) - had 2 swabs and urine samples taken, both came back negative for a yeast infection and bladder infection.

Over the next week, the shooting pain gradually subsided and was replaced by a VERY swollen clitoris/hood (about 2-3x its normal size and swollen labia lips.

Over the next week, the shooting pain disappeared altogether, the swelling went down, and I got a brand new set of symptoms - burning in my vulva, labia lips, around the clitoral hood, etc. Went to visit doctor #3 and she said the area did look irritated, but she saw no signs of infection and suggested I change my soap incase I was having an allergic reaction.

Over the last week and a half, I cut out the soap entirely, and the burning became VERY bothersome and now my vulva and the area surrounding my clitoris/hood is VERY red and irritated. Went to doctor #4 who gave me a prescription for a cream mixture for hyderm (anti-inflammatory incase its an allergy reaction) and clotrimaderm (anti-fungal incase its a yeast, even though both my yeast tests came back negative). So far the prescription has done nothing to improve my situation and I'm at my wits end.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm in pain and frustrated.

I have had this frustrating problem and nothing my doctor prescribed helped. Then one day a year ago I took out a jar of good old VASALINE, and from that day on everytime I have the itching or aching situation upon my vulva I USE it promptly and iut always works.

I find that bi-carbonate of soda in a shallow bath help, as does diluted vinegar 1 part vinegar to 19 parts water, or salt, I hope that helps someone with the burning. If you have a discharge, then consult a doctor, and keep trying Dr's until you find a decent one. I know! how do you find a decent Dr these days with mass production, but thanks for all your above inputs, as it has helped me to know that I am not the only one. Also I have realised sometimes that I not been drinking enough water, so my urine has become stonger and thus burning my vulva, plus my husband has a high body temperature at night, so I think that between the not drinking and becoming over heated at night, that I am getting heat rash. & if I may add, always make sure that your partner is hygenic before being intimate, as lack of hygiene does cause bugs. Hugs :-D

sweety you have an ingrown hair. what you need to do is grab a pair of tweezers and oull out that hair that caused the infection. that course hair has big puss ball at the end that you need to get out for the swelling to stop. when you get it out make sure to clean it up with peroxide to kill the rest of the infection. wait a day and take an epsom salt bath with water put as hot as you can stand to sit in and soak for 10-20 minutes.

Hi Laura, I too have the same symptoms as yours and want to treat it naturally. I will try to follow the dietary protocol you suggested. I've had this for a couple weeks now and my husband thinks because I can't be touched, it's his fault for some reason, that I don't want him... Oh the problems we women have. I was also told no infection so now, I'm doing a candida cleanse and cutting all sugar even my beloved wine. Any other natural anti inflammatories you think may help?

iyooo i have been through this, after i had my baby like 6 years ago and i went to countless doctors who would not even come up with a helping solution untill one suggested they extract my womb, i decliend and stayed home till the problem stopped on its own its been one and a half year since i've had this but now over the past two weeks it has returned with a bang, i have a boyfriend of 3 months now,  who i recently discovered has multiple partners and never uses protection with any of them. the pain feels worse than the first time,  this time im not confident enough to go to consult a doc coz of  the expectation of being told i'm infected with STI and HIV.

i dont think ill cope but i cant stand the pain either iyoooo what can i do?

I have had this for many years and was diagnosed with Lichen Planus.  No cure but you can be made comfortable.  Ask your GYN.
