Hey girls im 16 and for about two years ive been having on going yeast infections it could be Candais or whatever so i cut down my sugar and everything, the swelling and itching do suck. Put PLAIN yogurt and rub it or insert it in your vagina, it sounds discuisting but it helps, or eat it by mouth but thats pretty gross. I tried a warm bath for the swelling but that didnt really work. Im so irritated down there. so i tried putting ice on it. It pretty much helps:) Just stay away from thongs or any underwear thats going to ride up there and cause the yeast to come back. Stay away from sugary things as well. GOOD LUCK :) Youre not alone!

As a female naturopath and mother of 4 girls I am saddened and shocked that no one has mentioned assistance from anyone who is NOT a doctor. No, I am not a doctor-basher - I actually began my career in orthodoxy as a trained nurse. But after 30 years in the industry not a day goes by where I am not shocked or angered by medical advice. For one, doctors will laugh at the notion of candiasis behind your back. How do I know? I heard enough of them doing just that - and a number of my patients who have gone for a second opinion at the urging of their family, have all come back to me and told me the same thing.
Yes, probiotics will help but will not remove the problem and drugs will definitely not. This type of reaction is a combination of many things - an increase in oestrogen (perfumes, meat in diet, chemicals linked to food, personal care products and environment) and thrush overgrowth - well, we actually need yeast in the body for many natural functions but today's diet is so unhealthy that yeasts have become a problem.
Diet alteration is vital - without that, any 'cure' will be temporary at best. On top of that, you need to increase your testosterone and progesterone, and lower your oestrogen, which is part of life but currently in such extreme levels in the body, we are ticking time bombs - cancer, diabetes, weightgain, depression, facial hair, deep voice and skin/bone issues just for a start. Homoeopathics are brilliant for such issues, as is removing all the chemical products from your house, as higher levels of oestrogen mimicking compounds have the ability to irritate in this way - and are also linked to cancers and myriad very serious health issues that should never be accepted as a matter of course.
Again, if you ask your doctor about this he/she will laugh at the suggestions - it's a shame because it's one of the most common modern day issues naturopaths are faced with. I am hoping some of you at least race off to your naturopaths right now, or feel free to keep this thread going and I can steer you in the right direction. Don't accept such health problems as part of being a female or even aging - they are not 'normal'...

Be careful about the condoms you use. You could be allergic to the condom (unlikely), or you could be sensitive to spermacide (more likely). I am the latter, I use a condom with spermicide and i get swollen and a yeast infection. Try to stay away from condoms that contain ecxtra stuff

Hi, I wanted to post this in case it helps anybody in all the forums I was reading, trying to work out what was wrong with me..

I had a stubborn yeast infection for a couple of weeks - canesten didn't do anything, neither did diflucan. Strangely, 2 swab tests showed no candida, so GP decided I had BV, though the discharge was odourless and symptoms didnt match. Metronidazole seemed to stop the discharge but I was left with a sore, dry inflamed vagina/vulva that no amount of creams or medication would cure. I even tried antibiotics (Amoxycillin) since somehow they cured a yeast infection last year but they didn't help this time. Derma-care cortisone cream, and salt or bicarb of soda baths helped a little but never for very long.

Finally a third (!) swab test revealed ureaplasma urealyticum which is a form of bacterial infection that you need special antibiotics for. I was given Doxycycline 100mg and was sceptical that they would help, since symptoms associated with this are bleeding, pain while peeing, abdominal pains, and discharge. I didn't have any of those. Or, most people have no symptoms at all so I assumed this was just a separate thing from what was causing my inflammation. From reading online, I was sure I most likely had cytolytic vaginosis.

HOWEVER..the doxycycline is working!! Yesterday 12 hours after the first dose I had a noticable reduction in irritation and today I am symptom-free. It feels amazing not to be aware of my inflamed crotch every step I take.

It took THREE swab tests for this to show up, and your doctors might not be looking for it so..if this helps someone get a similar solution to their problem I'll be really happy.

I read on the Internet that many people get vulva burning and itchiness, while having a yeast infection.  This the best tip I ever got. Tea Tree Oil.  Comes in liquid form and get at any pharmacy store. I also read that using Tea Tree Oil alone may burn more.  Solution.  Mix half of Tea Tree Oil with half Almond Oil.  Both did I instant pain relief. Apply as often as needed.  I also use Monistat to treat the yeast infection.  Hope this information helps you find relieve too

hi, i am afraid that this means your yeast infection is back. actually, you should keep taking your pills even symptoms of yeast infection are disappeared. now, you also can take the pills you have taken before, but i am afraid that your body may not sensitive to them, so if you continue to take them, the curative effect may bad. so you may should change another pills. but you are better to ask doctor what kind of pills you have to take. if you are afraid of drug resistance, you can try herbal medicine which has no drug resistance.

CANDIDA is yeast!
You probably should check into a long term way of getting rid of it through diet and antifungals!
This is becoming an epidemic,if you keep having recurrent infections its probably elswhere in your body

Hi ladies, I've dealt with chronic yeast infections nearly all of my life and finding the perfect home remedy always seems useless but I found one home remedy that works in minutes. Every time I have a bad case, it itches and then my vulva swells to the point where I can't walk or even put on underwear. The best efficient home remedy for yeast infection is to take a sock from your drawer, preferably clean and fill it with warm (not too hot) cooked rice. Wait til it's a comfortable temperature and then place it over your crotch region and the swelling will go away in a matter of minutes and it also reduces the itching. If the vulva is still a bit swollen after the first try, put the sock in a microwave and heat for 30 seconds and place it on the crotch region again. I don't know how I came about this remedy but it sure helps and it's the quickest way to relief rather than topical ointments. Hope this helps everyone!

I have done this even when I was told not to do it but it's works. I base my decision according to research. I simply douched with peroxide and water once a day for three days and it's completely gone. According to research, peroxide fights off all the bad bacteria and restore the good bacteria. But it does burn like 2 mins but in my case it wasn't burning bad. But in the third day after I douche , it didn't burn at all. The first night I douched the symptoms such as itching and irritation went away. It was still swollen but that went down as time went by like the next week. This was my first yeast infection. But it never came back yet after doing that
