I wanted to add my story to the message board.....I am 58 years old and had pain in my abdomen late one evening. It got worse all thru the night and by 7:30 next morning I was in the ER with excruciating pain. After x-rays and CT scan I was in surgery by 1:30 due to air filling my abdomina wall with air from a perforated diverticulitis. They took out about 10 to 12 inches of my colon. My surgeon was excellent. I was in the hospital for 5 days and was loaded with antibiotics. I had gas and bowel after 2 days which was a true blessing from GOD. (By the way, I give Him all the praise and glory for my quick recovery and fast healing.) I went home with 2 more antibiotics for another 7 days...I had yeast infections every where. I have to admit I had a FULL MELT DOWN the day after I got home from the hospital but after lots of prayer and acceptance of the situation I got over that too...I made one more trip to the hospital to revisit the ostomy nurse for some more training on how to better secure the bag. I now have that down pat and change it every three days...My reversal surgery is scheduled for mid January which will be about 3 1/2 months of healing. I am looking forward to getting rid of this bag but after reading some of the results of reversal surgeries I will go in it with a positive attitude and will have done my renal muscle training...Oh by the way I will also have many prayer warriors praying thru my surgery and recovery...
