I am rushing to the loo every 2-3 hours passing the smallest stools.
Could someone please let me know if this is normal. I am starting to worry they have somehow mucked around with my nerves that control down there!!
i woz told you would be back to normal 24/48 later. 1 week later im still in bed, a very worried man!!

Well just to update. Its now 10 days since op. Still going to loo 8-10 times aday!! Piles are half back!! The other half i think is whats causing me pain and the reason i'm going to the loo so much(they are trying to break free!). Feeling pretty low, I was better before THD!!!

Finally after 6 weeks wait I went and saw my surgeon today told him my history and had my examination (1 prolapsed hem that I knew about and 2 more internals that I didn't). I was only hoping for another banding, but not the case so I'm off for surgery on the 22nd of April for a THD/HAL.

We both agreed that this would suit me best at this stage but may need the PPH later on down the track all depends on how everything goes. The best thing you could say is when I do have my surgery on that day the world expert on THD will be there watching can't complain about that.

I still find it strange that there's not much information out their (I know it's not a subject people want to talk about BUT SHOULD) so people can reduce the impact on there Haemorrhoids instead of getting all this BS and false hopes from the stuff you can get off the net.

One thing i can't stand is these people that are selling so called Miracle remedies and praying on people who are too scared to go see a surgeon so they can make a buck out of it. I have not seen any evidence yet or tried anything that has any effect on them what so ever (sorry about my rant) but if there is any scientific proof as in documented studies that people can post on here that would be proof in the pudding.

Well where do i start !! Had my THD/HAL surgery Thusday and there was a lot more prolapse than expected. Came out of surgery and woke up with quite a bit of pain nurses gave me 8mls of morphine and that did the trick. In recovery was there for about 2 hours waiting the pain started to come back and so had some DI-Gesic (dextropropoxyphene Hydrochloride) this is the strongest pain meds available that don't cause constipation. In the post-op recovery room i needed to wait till i went for a pee before i could go home that DIDN"T HAPPEN !!! waited and waited ended up staying in hospital for the whole night.

Though out the night managed to go for a pee (the sound of running water really does the trick) tried to stay off the pain meds that only lasted 4 hours (don't do it) now i'm back at home still quite sore and not looking forward to my first BM OUCH!!!

Haven't really had much to eat in 3 days, 3 sandwiches, 4 biscuits, couple of soft drinks (sodas) and about 4 coffees (instant YUCK) and a couple of pieces of fruit. I think my first main meal will be tonight Vegetable Soup with stool softeners sounds yummy hey.

Well it's official THIS SUCKS!! It's been a one week now since my surgery and even though I've had no bleeding or seepage the pain and irritation seems to be increasing and the constant stinging is giving me the irks!! I've gone back on full pain meds but only every 6 hours instead of 4. Hot baths only help for about an hour. I'm blocked up again but i think this is down to snacking between meals so i'm going to cut that out to see what happens and stick to only 2/3 meals a day.

O.M.G. last night was just hell!! This surgery is the only thing that has made me cry in a LONG time. I'm going to go on a liquid diet only from now till my healing really kicks in. You know i'd though i'd be possitive about all this when i did have my surgery but that has all gone out the window. I hope never have to go through this again. The only good thing i can see from this is it will budge the last remaning kg's i've been trying to lose for some time managed to budge 4kg in 4 days.

My best friends so far have been the pain meds, hot baths, lying on my stomache and pumpkin soup. I've completely cut out snacking and i'm still only having 2 meals a day but i have been enjoying my hard boiled lollies to suck on in between meals.

Well it's 4am still not getting much sleep i'm grabbing that when i can. Another day in hell ahead of me !! Great !!

Well it's Sunday night and it's been 10days now. I've had a bit of an easy day today but Friday & Saturday were hell. I got totally fed up with the constant pressure/pain from my stools pushing on the surgical area in my rectum so I took the drastic measure of taking some castor oil and boy did that make a difference within 4 hours my bowel was completely empty it did mean that i went to the toilet about 7 times which was quite unpleasant but buy the end of it i was quite relieved. The next day (Sunday) I was a bit sore but at least I've had a rest day of TRYING to go to the toilet.

With my system now completely flushed out all I've been having is apples for snacks banana smoothies with chiatah and flaxseed for breakfast and soup for lunch and dinner all meals followed up with with a stool softener and plenty of water and tea between meals.

Let see what Monday brings.

Samanthadog~ Since you've had the THD some time ago, I'm curious if you had any extra 'skin' outside after your surgery? I seem to have extra skin and what looks like a deflated hem that is somewhat outside my body. Will this go in after I heal more OR is there going to be further 'repair' to this area? :-( My THD was done April 9, 2010.

I've noticed the exact same thing!! For some reason it appeared and I've never had an exterior one before :-(
The best way to get rid of is is ICE ICE and MORE ICE an ice pack 15mins 3 times a day.
The best way to do it is get some small ice cube in a line about 2cm in dia wrap them in cling wrap(food wrap) and wedge it up there and sit down this will help to get rid of it and use a towel to soak up the melted water it stings at first but then goes numb YIPPEE . Mine has gone down by half so far so i expect to disappear in a couple of days !! fingers crossed.

Well 2 weeks have gone by and I don't to see them again. I can finally get out of the house and go for a drive!!

It seem that I've gone over a hurdle and life is some how getting back to normal did my first BM without using any pain meds!! YIPPEE.
I think my best friend so far has been the castor oil 1 table spoons every 2nd day it helps a hell of a lot in the aid of going to the toilet without pushing the only thing is you do go about 4 -5 times but hell you get a day without any meds or the problem of thinking about another BM and also some really good healing time .
I still have an external Hem that appeared from nowhere but I'm reducing that bit by bit using Proctosedyl and ice and some pure Aloe Vera from the plant another thing that helped with the stinging is paw paw ointment this is a natural antibacterial cream and also helps stop the stinging.

I am curious to know if anyone else having a THD has noticed extra skin or what looks to be a deflated hemorrhoid on the outside? If I didn't have that thing, I'd be very happy. I can push it back in and it doesn't appear until much later in the day. My Dr. thinks it will disappear over several months. Has any one else had this and does it disappear? I suppose in 'theory' over time it should 'shrink', but will it? I had this before the THD procedure.

Talk about a turnaround, last week I was depressed when I discovered a large pain full haemorrhoid on the outside. Now a week later it's reduced down to almost nothing and no pain in fact hardly any more pain except when I need to go to the toilet and about an hour or so after wards and I'm nearly completely off meds now. I can finally get up and about and do some work around the house it felt that good i even managed to mow the lawn that might not sound like much but i do live on a steep block of land I even managed to get out for nearly the whole day with no problems. So life is slowly getting back to normal :-) but i do still have some off moments but that only last for a couple of hours.

Does anyone know after a THD how long it will actually take the tissue to shrink (or will it)? I know the blood supply is cut off right away. However, my Dr. said the body begins to produce new arteries almost immediately. It just goes around the cut off ones. The 'mushroom' (those of you having this know what I am talking about) you see/feel when having a BM, would not do that after 3 or 4 months he said.
