When I lay down it feels like my throat closes. I've read other posts about this, but they seem to be more about swelling/allergies/reflux. In my situation it feels more like the structure of my throat loses integrity and lays down, for loss of a better word. Sometimes when I'm almost asleep I hear myself snore or gasp for breath and then I wake up. I am always exhausted when I wake up and I am usually tired during the day. I have looked into sleep apnea, but everything I see is about weight loss or smoking or something. I am very thin and I don't smoke, and I am very active. Any ideas?

That sure sounds like apnea. I don't think you have to be overweight to have it. It's just much more common in overweight people. Check with a doctor to see what can be done.
