I am living in South America, and I told my boyfriend, no sex till he goes to get tested for STDs (he never has been, which seems to be very common down here). So, being a good boy he goes to the doctor, who sticks a camera into his penis, looks around, and tells him everything is fine.
My question is, since infections like Chlamydia usually have no symptoms, how would this method of diagnosis be effective?
My boyfriend says he trusts the doctor more than me...but how can a real diagnosis be made without laboratory tests? are there any doctors out there who can shed some light on this? I would be very grateful.

Are you sure your boyfriend’s telling the truth? Maybe he made up this camera thing or this may be some new technology but I have never heard that STD’s are checked by inserting a camera.

I am no doctor, but I did a lot of reading on STDs. He needs to have his urine checked, or even sperm. Chlamydia in males can be found in the urethra, bladder or sperm. I know that a doc first takes urine or a precum or sperm sample, and if there is a big number of white blood cells, then they suspect Chlamydia and run tests for Chlamydia.

At least it is like that in girls. I talked to my gyno and she took a vaginal smear and had it checked at the libratory. No elevated white blood cells but found Candida (fungus) with the presence of good bacteria.

A patient always gets the result tests to bring home with them. Have you seen it?
If your boyfriend doesn’t know what an exam looks like he may tell stories, this way you can see if he’s telling the truth.

I am not saying not to trust him at all but leave some room for it because you know what guys can be like regarding these things. I haven’t managed to persuade my boyfriend to get tested in three years but I certainly would if I were found any STDs.
