vaginal irritation post abortion

I had an abortion at a PPH clinic 10 days ago. I was 9 weeks pregnant. I followed all the advice given for post-abortion care and had my follow-up appointment after one week. I told the doctor everything was normal except for mild vaginal irritaiton and redness around the inner libia. The doctor asked if I was prone to yeast infection. I responded, no and explained that there was no sign of discharge even though I was still experiencing very light bleeding. The doctor passed it off as irritation from constant spotting. This doesnt really make sense to me and the itchy irritation can be quite uncomfortable at times.
I also had sex for the first time since the abortion (10 days post). The first penetration was without a condom, but a condom was used later.
Should I get a second opinion?
Should I be concerned of a STD?

ah i have the same question. i was six weeks and chose the medical option. i started to feel it probably two days before my follow up but didn't even bother asking even though i should have. but i agree it can be pretty uncomfortable.

I had an abortion at 5 weeks. I have the same thing... It was a week after the abortion I woke up in the morning and the skin was red and irritated in the inner area. I think it is from wearing a pad all the time. I normally never wear pads. I think all the moisture and the pad sitting there irritated my skin. My skin started peeling 2 days after the irritation and now it is itchy as it peels. I hope it is okay! I haven't had my follow up appointment yet.

I have the same thing.I had the abortion 5 days ago. and now i am red and itchy. Im pretty sure that this is jock itch (a fungal infection). I have had this before. A mix of antibiotics plus wearing a pad all the time, with all that moisture has caused fungus to grow. apply a topical foot fungal (jock itch medication) and stay dry. should go away in a week with constant application of the lotion. also dont itch it it caused the skin to break and become infected. most doctors wont think of this because it rarely happens to women, but show a man and he'll know just what you have.

I am experiencing the same symptoms (peeling, itching, no smell or discharge) started 4-5 days after medical abortion. How is "jock itch" different from "a yeast infection"? Different fungus?

i got the same problem its all red and itchy in the inner area and i think the skin has cracked a bit as well. i have been putting sudocream on it and its making the itching go away and the redness has gone down but my pads keep bringing it back.

Same exact thing happened to me. I'm so worried as I had my abortion pill Nov. 2 and it is now Dec 29 and it's still irritating me. Did you find out what it was? Please, I am so worried I can't stop crying.

I recently had an abortion this past friday and the next day I took a shower and all those symptoms began.. I didnt know if it was because of the hot water however the feeling was very unpleasant. Did anyone recieve an actual diagnoses? What was the treatment? Should I be concerned about std's? I'm terrifed right now and uncomfortable...

I got an abortion five days ago and am felling the same thing. It feels the same as when I had a yeast infection. Just get the cream for it and apply it a couple times a day. The first time you do though it may itch worse for a few moments.

I found out I was pregnant at 47 and decided to use the abortion pill. It was a horrible experience and I would not recommend it. You feel like you are giving birth and then you bleed like crazy. Not all tissue was removed so I had to take the 2nd pills twice. I developed an itch on my vagina that only got worse and spread to my forearms from all the scratching. I would scratch like crazy and bleed most nights. A trip to emergency when hives developed only provided comfort in the form of steroids and creams but the itching and rash continued. After suffering for almost 2 months and thinking I had a horrible disease, I read to take a bleach bath to kill bacteria on the skin. My guess is I had strep in my vagina as I am a fan of oral sex and that it leaked out during the abortion pill use and infected the tissues. Be careful with it. It could have been my age that made it so difficult but I think the old way would have been cleaner and better.

I had an abortion last Wednesday I was only 5 weeks and everything went well I stopped bleeding by the Monday and went back on the pill by Tuesday night me and my partner had sex but used a condom to be safe and the same the next night. But last night I've found myself with a sore and itchy inside my vagina is this normal or could it be a sign of an infection any advice anyone ?

I am literally experiencing the same thing right now. I had my surgical abortion 6 days ago and just had sex for the first time since, I’ve now got a red, itchy vagina but no discharge. Not sure if I should be worried or if it’s just because what it’s been through.. did yours eventually calm down?

I see the reoccurring problem happen with all of us ladies starting about 5 days, same for me. It just started today and I used my vibrator yesterday on the outside only. I was examining my vagina befor that and seen how it looked… I can’t explain it… the inner part, my opening looks very different and I hope it goes back to normal
