I too have severe itching the week before my period and am on birth control... I always think its due to a yeast infection but I no longer think that is the case because my only symptom is itching and it is right on time, the same time, every month and only lasts up until my period or until my period is over. I am also on birth control--- Does anyone know the cause or cure for this?!

I too have this problem... it has started for me within like the last six months. The first time I took over the counter yeast infection meds because I thought it must be that. Then the next month it happened again, and again and would go away after my period so I realized the connection. From other message boards it seems to be rather common, however, they didn't indicate that it was related to BC. I am not on BC, nor have in been in years so I don't think that is the cause, at least for me. Most people thought it was hormone related, which would make sense. So if you are taking hormonal BC, then I could see how that might make the problem occur in people who weren't previously having a problem, or make the problem more noticeable. But you should still ask you OBGYN on your next appointment to be sure!!

^^ yeah thats happening to me too.

I can't stand it any longer.

I have an idea though, it miht be due to lack of certain nutrients/vitamins in diets

(awhh, this has been going on for about two weeks. my cycle is off. why do women match up cylces? it's misleading. haha)

I have the problem too, and so does my younger sister (we are 41 and 38). We discovered the common problem about 2 or 3 years ago during a casual conversation. It has to be hormonal. I get all over itching for 24 to 48 hours before starting my period. Once I actual begin my cycle, it is as if the itching is magically relieved. It is the absolute worst 12-18 hours prior to starting. It is the craziest thing.

I was having the same problem, then I started drinking lots and lots of water to cleanse my body of toxins right before my period and it stopped.

I have the same symptoms, though I am NOT on birth control, any help? I have already gone to "the" doctor and they said it was a few things (I have gone a few times) and nothing helps from them...

I too am still searching for answers. I have found a little diaper cream with zinc in it helps as it provides a healing, protective barrier just like it does for the baby's bum. I have also tried other anti-itch creams, especially ones with an analgesic (pain relief), but some of these products have caused my symptoms to explode to the insane level. I'm thinking that the normal discharges have changed in their pH balance (maybe hormone changes related to our age?) and is causing the extreme irritation, maybe even an allergic type reaction. But I'm not a doctor. The zinc barrier if you can stand the sticky stuff, works the best for me. Let me know how you do if anyone else gives it a try!

I have the same problem it really REALLY sucks!!! I'm on the minerva coyle but I find that taking allergy pills for hay feaver really helps! as they help with skin irritation that causes itching. I can now sleep at night atleast!

I also have the same problem and I'm also on the Minerva coil! Hardly slept last night - it's driving me nuts! I will try a hay fever pill to see if that helps. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone with this problem.
