Hi all.

Hoping someone out there can help me! I had my marina iud for 4 and a half years with no real proplems but due to an infection had to have it taken out (had some complications when my 3rd child was born and the iud was stopping thing healing) got it taken out 1 week ago and had no real probems at all...i was told by my nurse i would have a period almost straight away and on the 3rd day i got what i thought was my period....only it lasted for half a day and was so light it was barely there! i had the iud fitted bacause of extreamly heavy periods so this has come as a shock to me.....also im feeling really sickly all the time! could it be another "real" period on the way?? I think my biggest worry is that as i didnt know i was having my iud taken out my prtner and i were having sex till 2 days before!! is there a chance i coud be pregnant? i really hope not we have 3 and my youngest was very traumatic and very large (11lbs 3oz) so im not in any hurry to do that again! im 30 years old and have recently lost a ot of weight (6 stone so far) could this have anything to do with it???

really hoping someone out there has any kind of wisdom for me!!!

The first bleeding after Mirena removal is basically breakthrough bleeding - Mirena was releasing hormones in your body while you had it and when it's taken out tissue of your uterus reacts by bleeding (which can be strange like light or spotting for weeks...). Changes in bleeding after the removal is the biggest problem for most women, so your body will just need some time after removal to get adjusted. I doubt you're pregnant because it takes some time for fertility to return after Mirena removal and you had sex while you still were protected. Obviously, weight loss has big impact on your periods, but symptoms now could be partly cause by the complications after birth, also. For now, you'll have to wait, but if these problems become bigger, you will have to do the test and ta;k to a gynecologist and see what is going on.
