Help! I had a partial hystorectomy 8 years ago and continued to have abdominal pain for the past 3 years. Sometimes the pain has been so bad I felt as though it was my appendix bursting. I have one right ovary left that is still working according to blood work. I just had a ultra sound which revealed a 3mm cyst on the ovary. The Dr. did not think that this was the cause of the right side pain. I just had a laporoscopy done which he said he drained the cyst that was attached to the ovary. He also said that either scar tissue or my reoccuring entometiosis (sp?) has attached my ovary to my small intestines, bowel and rectum. He said that I would have to go to a pain management Dr. becuase even if he wanted to remove the ovary it would be too risky. I have never heard of this before? I have had problems with constipation before and weight gain but Could it be something else? Perhaps galbladder or liver problems?

With the abdominal issues that you are having and the placement of the pain, I think that it should actually be the cyst. I'm not sure what it actually could be and I'd rather defer to what your doctor is saying, but you should maybe seek out a second opinion about your situation to make sure that you know what the problem is. Keep us posted.

This happened to someone I know. the cysts began to grow AGAIN for the second time and invaded/attached to bladder and intestines. She had had a previous removal of cysts/partial hysterectomy. Please get a second opinion. The cyst can come back and grow fast and cause alot of pain. they need to be removed completely including the ovary. unfortunately. I guess it depends on how old you are. both ovaries can be removed but you will have to be on hormone replacement therapy. Hope this helps . My friend is in her mid 40's.

I have the same thing and was told by my fertility doctor and gyne that it is too risky to separate the ovary from the intestines because the intestines might be injured and that is a very tough recovery. He wouldn't even suggest removing most of the ovary in case he touches the intestines. I have the pain you are describing, every month around ovulation time. It gets terrible, but the dr. put me on birth control pills to keep me from ovulating and that is keeping the pain away. Hope this helps!

I just had surgery to remove my right ovary. I had a hysterectomy about 6 years ago, the dr said he left the right ovary in because of my age..34, I had gone to the hospital in Sept of last year, they told me they saw my right ovary and the pain wasn't coming for that or the cysts they found. My GP got results from the hospital in Jan this year and I went to see his gyno in his office. He brought me in for surgery fairly quickly and found I had my left not right ovary and he removed lesions and abrasions but left the ovary in, but it was now attached to my rectum. I am only a two weeks after surgery and his office called they have results, I see him this week. What and how did all of this happen, bad and uncaring drs but now I need to find out, how does an ovary attached itself to the rectum, if anyone can answer me I would appreciate it. Thanks

I had a hysterectomy in 2011 and my left ovary removed in 2013, i have had pain in my right pelvic for some time now, last week i had a laparoscopic procedure done and had a cyst removed from my right ovary and they found my colon was attached to my ovary, they detached them and not 24 hours later i went into bladder shock (acute kidney failure) it has been 3days since my surgery and i still have pain in my pelvic and he left in my right ovary. I was not aware of any complications or risk prior to detaching the two organs and now i am scared to death to have the ovary removed.

So what did you end up doing?

I had this happen on Sat. 2am excruciating pain. Went to ER. Did ultrasound. Said no blood flow to left ovary. Rushed me into surgery. My ovary had a large cyst that adhered to my colon. They had to remove it. This is serious and I’m surprised she didn’t remove ovary. I still have my right ovary. For those of you who have your right one left what changed with your hormones?

I’m 43.
Had partial hysterectomy at 40 because of a softball size mass.
I’m infertile. Never had kids.

Good luck ladies!

Ps I’m in a ton of pain today but not compared to when I was in ER. Diaullated didn’t even help much!
