I heave been to Western Neurilogical and the university hospital, and countless others! I have paid soo much money to have them tell me they have no idea what is wrong. Since March 3 of 2009 and still ongoing I have a popping sinsation followed by what feels like my face falling asleep as if in the order of water trickling down my face then a sivere pain shooting through my eye. And then a migraine from HELL (excuse my language). My regular doctor put me on a medication for strokes and that helped the migraines and i dont receive the popping as much when i first started it but know that i have been on it for a couple of months the popping is coming back more frequently and the migraines are slowly starting to as well. I am scared and dont know what to do! I am a mother of a soon to be 3 year old and I am only 25 years old my self can any one help me?

My 9 year old son has had this "head popping" thing go on since he was about 3-5 years old. It recently started happening ALOT, and it would feel like a bubble forming on either the left or right side of his head and then it felt like it would POP and then he would have a warm sensation in that area. It would happen at any time anywhere. Then a new sensation occured where it felt like a bunch of tiny bubbles were forming on the lower back of his head that would pop like bubble wrap. When I first mentioned all of this to my doctor, he was clueless... But then he wondered if it could be a side affect from his Albuteral Inhaler??? (He has asthma) We immediately had my son quit taking this Inhaler, and THE POPPING STOPPED! It has been a month and 1/2 with no head popping whatsoever! Does anyone here take ALBUTERAL???? If so, this would be very interesting. There is a different kind of asthma inhaler that you can get from your doctor that does not have all these bad side effects. I starts with an X.... Sorry, can't remember it just now. Hope this helps!
(My son has been taking Albuteral since he was 3-5 years old, when the symptoms first appeared.)

My son is three years old and has ashma also, which he was diagnosed with at 1 year old. He has had a cold for a few days now, so we have been giving him his albuterol treatments again. Two days ago he was watching tv and he just starting crying, I actually thought he had bit his tongue or something, but he said his head popped. He was pointing to about two inches above his right ear. Then today he was on his way into the house and he said it popped again, but on his left side this time. He has been on treatments off and on for the past two years and nothing has ever happened, but do you think it could be the albuterol treatments? Is the other medicine xopenex?

Ive had the popping in my neck for the last three years when I turned my neck it sounded like bubble wrap popping. three weeks ago I had nose surgery to fix my sleep apnea they made the opening in the nose larger. The popping started moving to inside my head. like right in the center. Ive always had mucus in my throat on the right side now Its all starting to drain. since my nose isnt stopped up . Im sure the popping will go away once it all returns to normal Its been like this for twenty years . so it takes a while to stableize I think they fixed the problem .

Hi. I have been having a popping / crackling sensation in my head and neck for the past 3 months. The crackling in my neck is usually only with movement but the popping in my head is very random and afterwards I feels very lightheaded and dizzy. I am not sure if it due to the pop itself or from the panic I am expiriencing after I feel the pop. I have also have shortness of breath, chestpain, pain in my extremities and twitching in my face. I am only 26 so I have been very fearful of a tumor or something. I have had a CT scan that came back clear. All the doctors I have seen look at me like I am crazy and tell me it's anxiety, yet I have no past history of any anxiety . But, I think I may have finally found a solution. I was told about an association called NUCCA. It has to do with chiropractics but it is not your traditional chiropractor. I looked it up and found a doctor in my area. The doctor took some xrays, and It was discovered that my atlas ( top bone in neck ) was out of position and compressing on my spinal cord ( a subluxation of the vertbrae). Thus causing all of my symptoms. I hope this can help some of you. You can just google NUCCA and you will be able to find more info.

I had the same thing happen to me just a little bit ago while I was watching tv, it really has me a bit freaked. I'm 19 and not on any kind of meds, drugs and I don't drink alcohol. though I do have a bug at the moment not sure if it's cold or flu.

Anyone have a guess as to what's happening?

Not to freak anyone out, but I used to have something similar
Happen to me. Sometime I would feel a popping sensation while turning my
Head followed by a warm sensation. It didn't occur often; maybe 2 a month or so.
A few years after they began I had a hemorrhagic stroke. At first they thought it was an
Aneurysm, but then realized it was a stroke. They did extensive testing to figure out why, but they never figured out the cause. I was super healthy, 29 years old and didn't smoke! My life will never be the same. If you feel that something isn't right, you should talk to a doctor!! It could save your life!!!

i had noises and feeling inside my brain all my life; specially when i was in good heath/good mood periods. I can't see what's wrong with it! for me it rather good, and my theory is that you are shifting your thoughts... the more i think honestly and deep about things, and get new ideas, the more i have those! if i start to think about the universe and the true meaning of life and this kind of things, my brain pops!

in a comment earlier on this page, it says the popping is just the same as cracking your back. nitrogen bubbles build up, and "pop!" as you move you head around. nothing to worry about

In a nutshell they are nitrogen bubbles that form when the neck and other joints are stationery for too long. Popping isn't harmful just annoying.

Hi Amber. I'm sorry I don't have the answer for you, but you aren't alone. I have had the same problem since I was a child and I'm now 35. My symptoms are identical to yours. Usually it happens if I turn my head too quickly and sometimes I can catch it before it pops "completely". Wish someone out there had an answer! I've never had it checked out, but like you I'm very active and always have been. Still healthy :)

My 12 year old son has a popping/jolt feeling in the back of his head. It's been happening for about a year. When he turns his head is when it happens usually and only happens 3 or 4 times a month. We took him to a Neoligist and he had a MRI done. It came back normal. They wanted to do a nerve block on him but we didnt think it sounded very safe to have a needle inserted into the back of his head especially when they said it might not fix the problem. The scary thing is that we have no ideal why this happens and it seems like everyone including doctors either say they have never heard of this or that it is rare especially in children. It would be great if someone that has been through this similar situation has a treatment or has been cured of this. Tried Magnesium for a while but it didn't seem to help.
