Hello, what can you tell me about the retinal pigment epithelial cells? What are those? I have heard that they may be helpful in dealing with the disorders related with degenerating photoreceptor cells. And that is something my father (78 years old) suffers from. Is there any help for him? Could this work?

Well, those cells might be used in that purpose. They are positioned right beneath the photoreceptor layer cells. They have the supportive role and it looks like the transplantation of those cells in the layer above them rescued the photoreceptor cells. And this is actually great news in the area of healing the retinal degenerative disease.
