I have the new Philip Roth novel coming from the library today, so that's what i'll be reading now.

I just finished The Dark Tower V Wolves of the Calla.
It was a great book, but it took me FOREVER to finish it. Close to four months.
I'm also 2/3's of the way through re-reading "How to win friends and influence people" (wife thought it would be good for me to re-read that since we moved to a new town)
and I just started the 4th Repairman Jack novel...The Rage.

Picked up Bleachers by John Grisham over the weekend. Finished the short novel in about 4 hours tops. Not Grisham's best work but it was a good story. Certainly a quick read.

And how many non-lawyer books does he actually have published? ;)
The story was potentially good, but I didn't understand why he introduced the H.S. love interest. That was a side plot that really didn't add anything to the story, nor was it fully developed.

A Painted House Skipping Christmas BleachersI knew those three. I did Painted House on books on tape during a long road trip a few years ago. Decent storyline. But IMHO, he should stick to legal stuff. Maybe I will check Skipping Xmas this Holiday season.

I was the most disappointed by the Christmas one. It's being made into a movie called "Christmas With the Krunks". It would have had the book title but got bumped by that Affleck flick "Surviving Christmas"

I love Jane Austen. I think Persuasion is my favorite of hers.
Right now I have a stack of kids books to read:
The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements
Peter and the Starcatchers by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry
Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett
Vegan Virgin Valentine by Carolyn Mackler
Here Today by Ann M. Martin
The Falcon's Malteser by Anthony Horowitz
Son of the Mob: Hollywood Hustle by Gordon Korman

Carnage and Culture
by Victor Davis Hanson.
It is a study of the Western way of war, its ideology, ideals and methods of several key battles from antiquity to now.
It is a fascinating read. A very scholarly piece of work that I can only take in small bunches. It is really clearing up some questions I have about the Western military tradition.
