what can happen if he gets me pregnant while in methadone tr

Can someone please answer my question because I'm having no luck finding it on the Internet. If your pregnant and your having sex with someone who is doing pain pills or anything else could that be one reason for premature birth or could it cause anything?

Someone told me that babies born to methadone addicted mothers often have larger heads than other children. Do you know if there is any truth to that or is it just another rumor?

You're not a terrible person for getting pregnate while on methadone because it was not intentional.  Now if you had tried and intentionally gotten pregnate while on methadone that would be an entirely different story. While on methadone it is our responsibility though to take all measures to avoid getting pregnate/getting my girlfriend pregnate. Allthough my girlfriend is not on methadone but if she was then I as her boyfriend would also have the same obligation to try in every way possible to prevent her from getting pregnate. I do understand that people judge you when you're on methadone whether you're pregnate or not, male or female. It's sad but true, people will always critisize things they don't understand. Well I wish you the best of luck in your recovery and hope you can taper down until you are completely off. Hopefully I will be one of the success stories. I am down to 40mg and slowly getting lower, it can be done. :)

So glad people did read one of these msgs right before making comment my only response is this why do people the minute they hear the word methedone they think the person must be an addict my son was put on it for pain relief for his athritis crazy i know but the specialist said they are using it alot for pain..just wanted to put that out there..please dont judge before you know facst

i was wondering if anyone knows if a man is on methadone like my husband but i am not can my baby be addicted to methadone thru his sperm?please if anyone knows please let me know i have never been on drugs b4 but my husband has been on methadone for 8yrs. now and he is at 130mg a day is it possible for methadone to get in his sperm and contaminate the baby make the baby addicted to methadone?

I Originally came on here, with my Swarch question about "if Methadone can be passed on through Semen", and got some clarity(let me know your outlook on that as well), because we havent been able to conceive, and some medical says it OS because of the Methadone, and his friend at the clinic said it os because he is taking Testosterone shot, because the Methadone makes your Sex Drive less to Obsolete; whih he is taking Testosterone shot and his buddy at the clinic AND Medical stuff i read says it males u sterile; However, the same doctor that said "Mehadone is the best alternative choice Pain"-ALSO said that Testosterone doesnt make him Sterile(is his doctor being Truthful?); however, than i came by Your Responce, which provided me withr more clarity/info as well.My Fiancé is using Methadone for Chronic pain he has been dealing with since he was younger. All the info that o read based on methadone has been in regards to Drug Abuse, and i only read 1review (in the past) similar to urs; however, where ever i look, it is Drug Abuse this...and Drug Abuse that! what type of chronic pain do u have? Could u give me any advice on how to come off of it? I actually came into contact with a current Methadone user, whom said that it IS used for Drug Abuse...he is clean with his other drugs, and now only uses Methadone. He said that Drug users are faithful, but their Mysteresous are Drugs...period. He said that if ur loved one is invested in the relatinship to work put, than their loved one asking to go to the clinic with them to check out what he process is, and see urine tests that hey do to see if they r on anything else, etc should b fine; however, if the person on methadone says No, than that is a sign that somethig is NOT right. Listen there ur such a id**t I am a adduct u got a methadone and I now have over a year clean a full time job two kids and one on the way u don't have a god dam clue about addiction people do change and having kids is a big part of the reason I've turned my life around for the better

Sorry but the statements Asia made are completely inaccurate and false. Plus, I only see that you put your boyfriend is on methadone but you are not? There will be no affect on ur baby if you yourself are not taking methadone. But if you are on methadone, there is no way anyone can determine how much methadone your unborn baby will get, some babies get no withdrawl symptoms and it doesn't matter how high or low your dose is, a baby born to a mother on 15mg could have more withdrawl symptoms then a baby born to a mother on 140mg, it has nothing to do with the amount you are on. I had my son on 120mg of methadone and he had minimal withdrawl, he is 6 years old now and a normal, loving, happy child! I am now pregnant with my second child and I'm on 42mg. I don't expect the same results that I had with my son as far as withdrawl symptoms go, I know they can be better or worse. My suggestion to you is to consult a doctor if your planning on getting pregnant while your on methadone. They can give you way better advice then this genius up here!

I'm the mother ,not taking methadone, what I was wondering was if the father takes methadone when the baby was conceived will it affect our unborn baby??
