Long story short - ran out of oxycontin/codone early. I go for refill in 4 days. Used leftover suboxone to get by. If (BIG if) pain management dr. tests, how soon should I stop suboxone? Please help. Thanks!

Suboxone is a long-lasting drug. Compared to a full-agonist, such as heroin or methadone, suboxone behaves very differently. It is a very potent chemical, and in therapeutic use its ceiling dose is 32mgs.

Most people report needing to wait 12 hours (at the extreme low-end) all the way up to when withdrawals begin, somewhere between 30 and 72 hours. Now for how long it stays in your system - there is much deviation on how long it can be detected. Some say detection in urine is 8-24 hours whereas detection in saliva is 6-12 hours.

Hi:
I found a statement by a doctor in response to this question. It said that most blood tests will not detect suboxone. Apparently, the testing has to be somewhat specific. The doctor also replied that most organizations in his area don't do that type of specific testing. I would imagine then that this is true in most places. No guarantee, but the general feeling is that it would not be detected in the average employment, etc. blood screenings. I hope this helps.

Suboxone ceiling dose is not 32mg. It's way less. I think 16 mg. I take 2 mg and used to take 4mg. I tried 6 mg and felt the same. I don't know if it depends on the person, but 32 mg is extremely high and usually not needed.
