Hi, I need some info regarding the Down syndrome. A new colleague of mine at work has a 7 year old son who suffers from Down syndrome and I can see that it is not an easy thing for a parent to deal with. I am not sure if I can help at all, but I guess I could at learn something about it. What percent f the children with Down syndrome live into their teens?

Well, with the overall progress of the medicine, the average lifespan has increased to the number of 49 years. And of course, this differs in different societies and cultures, but overall progress has been shown ever since the 1980. And yes, it is hard for their parents to watch their children like that, but I assume that they love them as any other parent would love their child, no matter what condition they suffer from.
