A friend of mine is having a hard time lately with her 16 year old son, who has a Down syndrome. I know that the mental retardation is the main characteristic of those patients, and the face too, but what are truly the most common problems of children with this condition?

Well, you have mentioned the most obvious ones, and I guess those two make Down syndrome patients easily distinguished. I guess the biggest problem with them is that their lifespan is not long as ours, it is set at about 40 years, maximum. And it is sad when you know that you will most likely outlive your ill, beloved child…
