CUT THAT BAD BOY OFF!!!!!!!! It feels so much better after. Use nail clippers or tweezers but sanitize before as the undersides of your fingernails harbor a great deal of bacteria.

I thought it was from sugar. I seem to get mine when I eat a lot of sugary foods like suckers.  I have two right now and I don't know where they came from. I haven't had any spicy, salty or sugary foods and now I have one on the tip of my tongue and one on the underside. I hate them!

Good Lord, I've had one of these things for almost a week now. Started the day before Christmas and it's Saturday. Only it's not white. It's on the very tip of my tongue. I've picked at it some, but haven't been able to yank it off because it's in such a bad location. My problem is that it keeps bumping up a tooth that I have on my bottom that has sort of been squished out of place by the other teeth. So it is farther back than it should be and thus my tongue keeps hitting it on that exact spot. I feel like with that issue, it will never get better! I've been brushing and flossing and doing the salt water rinse a few times a day as well as using orajel (so I can eat) and laying off the sugar and salty stuff. It sucks man. It sucks badly. There is a bump but it's not big enough to pull off, really.

Just realized that it's not an infected tastebud, it's a canker sore on my tongue. Can't pull that off. Too bad. I would if I could.

Um, why not? Hydrogen Peroxide is sold as, among other things, "an antiseptic oral debriding agent for use as a gargle or rinse." It's approved for this purpose by the American Dental Association. And it's in most every tooth whitening product on the market. It foams (gives off oxygen, or oxygenates) and eventually breaks down into plain water (from H2O2 to H2O).

My doc says this is associated with prolonged gastrointestinal upset or can be an allergic reaction. Rinse your mouth 3x a day or more with warm salt water. If you have gas or an upset stomach, take a couple of antacid tablets such as TUMS. Pain and bumps should subside within a couple of days. Avoid foods high in acid or salt content, drink plenty of water and be patient. By the way, don't cut your tongue or the bumps.

I found that I have a vitamin B deficiancy and when I get the bumps it is an indication I should take a vitamin supplement to replenish. It works for me, but it wouldn't hurt to check with your doctor.

So, I have gotten these white swollen taste buds on the tip of my tongue for years and years, and for me it has always been too much sugar. When I was younger, I cut them off, and all was fine and dandy, but they crop up so often, I had to figure out how to prevent/heal them properly. What I get is called "oral thrush" which is basically a yeast infection in your mouth. It is caused by upsetting and disrupting the balance of bacteria and yeast in your mouth, giving yeast an advantage. To heal this properly, you must balance the bacteria and yeast in your mouth again. The best way to achieve this is to eat yogurt! From what I have read of this forum, we all have extraordinarily mild cases, mine has only once spread past the tip of my tongue. So be thankful, some people literally get it all over their tongue and sides of their mouth (google images produces the grossest pictures of it).I hope this helps!

I cut mine off also. Had three this week, but for the one who said salt.. I avoid salt as much as possible. But I clip then off or pop them and use listerine. It's amazing the difference. Like stated it bleeds a few secs just a tiny bit if you get only the bud. The tongue heals quickly. It's a quick sharp pain less painful than a shot and very little pain in comparison to leaving them for days!! :)
