Mine is not thrush. I've had real thrush after mouth surgery. Idk know the medical name for these swollen buds, but oral thrush makes a very thick white covering on tongue, spots on gums and even down throat. If scrubbed off it returns quickly and it hurts and your mouth stays extremely dry feeling. It is caused by yeast.. I spread mine through breast feeding after surgery bc diagnosed and gave thrush to my daughter and lead to bleeding nipples. I had to use a prescription mouthwash and cream for nipples and my daughter had to drink the stuff. Sugar does increase yeast in the body and can cause many issues but I get these swollen taste buds with a clean diet.

I have one on the tip of my tounge, and the pain is unbearable. But earlier I put some tea tree oil on a washcloth and dabbed it on. It burned really bad and made me drool, but I couldn't feel the bump. NEVER cut them off, that spreads the infection inside the bud, and makes them come back even worse. I also reccomend sticking your tounge out. The air temperature is cooler than your body temperature, and the dryness helps. When your tounge feels like sandpaper (It should after about three minutes), stick it back in your mouth. The wetness is unbelevibly amazing after so long. Tea tree oil and dry air are what I reccomend, and I'm only ten. I get these all the time, because I have a weakness for salt and I really hate brushing my teeth.

Any extra home remedies would be awesome,

Hi. I discovered my own home remedy for swollen irritated tastebuds simply by coinsidence. This will sound strange, it was a shocker to me. I couldn't really eat due to the painful buds on the tip of my tongue. Pretty sure I got them from drinking too much coffee. Anyway, grabbed a dill pickle from the fridge cuz it was a quick fix to my hunger. Immediately, the pain subsided. So I took a sip of the pickle juice, swished it around on my tongue. Spit it out. Within a few minutes, the swelling went away a lot and so did the pain. Don't know if its the vinegar, or salty flavor, but pickle juice helped me. Thought I would share. Hope it helps. :)

I've had these from time to time as well, usually only one or 2 at a time and the pain is unbearable when it rubs against a tooth or something. I sanitize some nail clippers and carefully snip them off... Problem solved. 1 second of pain, 3 seconds of a tiny bit of blood and then it's all over. Never had complications after. Probably done that at least 20 times in last 10-15 years.

I've also not been able to figure out what causes them, but it's possible that acidic foods might trigger it since they often show up around Christmas when I'm eating all those oranges.

My 6yr old son has some now, about 20-30 all along the front tip and a bit down one side of his tongue. Too many to clip off. (Plus he wouldn't hold still anyway). I've given him Advil (Ibuprofen) to reduce pain and inflammation. Also giving Colloidal Silver or Ionic Silver which is nature's most potent anti-bacteria and anti-virus. It's 100% safe and you can't overdose, but I'm giving him 20ml 4 times a day. (I'd double or triple that for an adult!) Then I also rub some Orajel on for increased pain killing (numbing) for when it's time to eat. (I have him stick out his tongue, dry it with paper towel, then dab/rub on the Orajel for a more powerful effect.)

After only ONE DAY of the above regime, he now only complains when we eat and then the Orajel takes care of that. The white bumps are still there but seem to be going away.

My experience is: If you can snip them off - do it. You will be VERY glad you did! Otherwise, try the above.

I haven't tried hydrogen peroxide on them, but I also get cancer sores on my tongue and gums and if I put hydrogen peroxide on there 4 times a day with a Q-tip - it hurts like living hell, but seems to make them go away in a couple days instead of a week or 2. Also after that intense pain, I can eat because the nerves are in shock and it doesn't hurt for a while. This might also be true for the white tongue bumps... but I just clip them off.

I've pulled them off as well, and it hurts, but after, the pain and irritation is gone. It's immediate relief as opposed to a week or 2 of waiting for it to fall off naturally.

I have these, they hurt terribly.  I have been doing research and I think they are a yeast infection.  Not only girls get this and not only on girls parts.  I encourage you to look up CANDIDA.  It can be caused by an allergy of sorts from foods you eat.  Check your body elsewhere for signs and symptoms of CANDIDA.  Post back if you find relief from the candida information you find.

THIS WORKED!

First this is my experience and not a substitute for sound medical advice.

1. Brush Teeth.

2. Floss.

3. Rinse well.

4. Rinse with warm water with lots of salt.

5. Then go into shower and let warm/hot water flush the area for ten minutes. It was painful at first but then the pain subsided.

6. At that point I used a tongue scraper (if you do not have a tongue scraper a toothbrush will probably work) to gently touch the enlarged taste buds while cleaning the rest of my tongue and rinsing in the shower and to my surprise the enlarged taste-buds had come loose and where now gone leaving only a slightly red area where they once where.

7. Repeated salt water rinse when I left the shower.

8. Coated tongue with one teaspoon of honey as honey has antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties.

8. Better now.

Blessings.

I have done it- It is not bad at all and TRUST ME- The pain last a second and then it is over... no more swollen bud. Sounds nutty BUT IT DOES WORK and immediately.

I heard that coating the sore spot with plain yogurt (the doctors) works to take away the pain and help them to go away faster
