Supra-ventricular Tachycardia: look this up this is what it is, your heart rate goes out of control all due to the electrical part of your heart. It can happen at any time any where mine starts at 180 BPM and has been up to 227 BPM It can happen at any age young children to older adults....Triggers are caffeine, alcohol, hot showers, cold water, stress, lack of sleep ect.....

I am 40 years old, slightly overweight, but I had some stabbing pain in my inner ear as of yesterday morning. I do admit I had a sore right ear on Friday or Saturday, so that may have possibly led to these off-and-on stabbing pains since yesterday morning. I thought it was a jaw thing, and I was told by my friend that it might be an early sign of a heart attack. My heart beat so fast, and I think I was going through an anxiety attack that took 10-15 minutes to hit its peak, but while my heart beats normally, the effects of such attack may take a few days to fully recover. So maybe it's possible that I may not be on the verge of a heart attack, otherwise I would have continuing pain somewhere in my upper body. I don't smoke, nor drink alcohol, but heart disease does run in my family, and I haven't been going to the gym much so far in 2013. I do admit that my stress levels rose in recent weeks, and I have possible fear of some event with my job coming up (not a layoff, but more a strike). I will be heading back to the gym starting today to try to reverse any stress and anxiety and kill the effects of such attack very soon!

Who knows, maybe I might have been working on a personal project towards a hobby continuously for a week and that may have led to stress over time. If so, I think I need to lighten my work and do a little tiny bit at a time, but not daily.

I highly doubt you are having a heart attack or will from the stabbing ear pain. You may have an ear infection which caused the pain and caused the heart rate to rise due to pain and then the anxiety raised it even more. If your ear continues to hurt I'd go to Dr infection can cause heart rate to be faster and palpitation. Good luck

Since you don't do any drugs... Sexual or excessive sexually activities can increase your heart rate at a resting rate. Personal experience trust me. Includes alone or with a partner. Minimize to 3 times a week. or less. Less is better.

Its not normal but its not something alarming. unless your heart speeds up like over 150 beats i wouldn't be too concerned. Are you over weight? Do you smoke, drink alcohol, do drugs? Drink caffeine? Eat a lot of chocolate? Those things can cause a higher heart rate. I have had this problem for 3 years now and doctors put me on metoprolol to slow it down but it doesn't really work. Basically mine gets fast when I eat and for hours after. I have learned to control it to an extent, but sometimes it does give me a fit. Mine has never went over 140 and that only happened one time. Next time it beats fast, splash ice cold water in your face several times and then sit down, hold your breath and push like you are going to poop, you should feel it slow down after that. If I was you i would still see a cardiologist to make sure its nothing bad. If everything comes back good then I'd try those things I mentioned above. Try not to stress over it and ignore it best as you can. Good luck

I am hypothyroid and have tachycardia once or twice a month. It doesn't last very long, sometimes just after going to bed when trying to get off to sleep, and sometimes it seems to be linked with a need to empty my bowels. However, I do find that the symptoms subside quite quickly after sipping water. As I am taking thyroxine the tachycardia may or may not be a side effect, but it's quite alarming.
