Hello, anxietypill,

Please check out Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I was told for six years that I had anxiety but always knew I didn't.

Feel free to ask questions if you have any. Take care!

Hi all,

23 years old.

I have the same symptom: fast heart rate for no reason, but I have more symptoms.

My case started when I was in Grade 12 (18 Years old) and my heart rate would go up really fast and beating my chest. when this happened I would feel dizzy and I would pass out. I would stay pass out for like 30 min and when I wake up, it was like nothing happened. I have been to the hospital about 20 times as a result of my high school and university calling emergency services. I have had all kinds of test done on me:  (these are the usual ones) Blood tests, ECG, city scan, heart monitor, (These are the unusual ones) brain scan, Xray, etc... After all these tests the doctors did not what was wrong. I had these "attacks" (as the docs called it) everyday at the beginning. Then it was like couple times a month.

Now after 5 years I happy that I dont have them anymore. I just wanted to share it with you all. I had it worse and it went away. Yours will go away too.

Cheers

Hello, all,

Sorry for the delay in my response. I have been re-adjusting after returning from medical research in New York. Anyway, last year, after six years of suffering, I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. In short, it is a very unheard of nervous system disorder that intereferes with the body's ability to properly adjust to the pull of gravity. Therefore, symptoms arise such as: rapid heart beat, low or high blood pressure, shortness of breath, fainting, dizziness, fatigue, exercise intolerance, etc. Most of these symptoms occur or worsen when the affected person stands. There are a few different types of POTS. I have been diagnosed with Hyperadrenergic POTS, meaning both my blood pressure and heart rate increase drastically whenever I stand. However, many people with POTS have the other types which frequently cause low blood pressure and fainting. There is also Partial POTS, a form that is usually brought on by puberty, temporary illness, etc., but resolves within a few years. Mine is genetic, so I will not ever fully recover, but I am on treatment to help relieve symptoms. Please feel free to ask questions. There is much more to share, but I don't want to go on and on if no one has further interest. Thanks, and take care!Brandi
