I am 12 years old and same things happen to me that all of you have described. I think it is because of not enough blood which could make your heart pump blood faster so the blood cells could take in oxyge and release carbondioxide.

wow i didn't realise there were so many people going through exactly what i go through!! I'm almost 18 and have had this problem for about 2 years now. All the time, my heart rate is much faster then it is supposed to be (even when i'm relaxed). Sometimes it goes even fasterr. This usually happens when i run, walk up the stairs or get stressed about something, etc.. And sometimes out of nowhere my heart just starts racing and i get really dizzy, my hands become numb and cold, and i feel like i can't breathe. I've been to the hospital multiple times when this has happened. I've had so many tests done on my heart, and nothing shows up. I'd really like to know what could be causing these fast heart beats as they get reallyy annoyingg most of the time. If anyonee finds out anything useful, please let the rest of us know! so many of you feel like sometimes eating triggers the fast heart beats; i feel that too! i wonder if it's somehow related since our hearts seem to be healthy...

I know I have panic attacks.  I am a 36 year old male and I worry about everything.  I have had random minor chest pain/pressure (that seems to feel like indigestion).  These symptoms often seem to be accompanied by constricted breathing.  I also seem to have an excess amount of phlegm, but I don't know if that is related.

A couple days ago I was sitting at work, getting a lot done, when I decided to go get more water (which I drink a lot of ).  I walked up one flight of stairs and that is all it took.  My HR was up around 200.  Luckily I was about to leave work and meeting up with a friend who was able to drive me home.  As soon as I got home I checked my BP and HR; they were both elevated, but not horrible.  Nevertheless, I went to my doctor immediately.  My resting heart rate was sitting at about 115 and I could feel it pulsing out of my chest.  She did an EKG which came back ST (Sinus Tach) which means my heart was just beating fast.  No signs of anything else.  She gave a prescription for a 25mg beta blocker and told me to use it as needed.  I broke one of the pills in half and took it.  After about an hour and a half my heart rate was down to 65 (from 115) and my blood pressure was the best it had been in years.  I felt a little drained, but felt much better than I had earlier in the day.

The next morning I went in for blood work to check everything including my thyroid, cholesterol, etc.  It all came back great.  Part of me is happy for the results, part of me was disappointed because I still don't understand why my body reacts the way it does... Stress... Lack of sleep... Lack of enough water... lack of enough GOOD food... Any Caffeine... or even nothing at all can send my heart into a speedy flutter.

They told me to get more sleep, more exercise, and cut out the last bit of greasy food from my diet... then check back in 2 weeks if I'm still having issues. -.-

Not thrilled with the response, but it seems they don't feel whatever this is (if it beyond stress) is going to kill me.

Of all of you who've seen doctors and run tests over and over, have any of you found ANYTHING at all besides a Stress/Anxiety diagnosis?

I have been having exactly the same symptoms as the rest of you fro several months  and dont get me wrong im glad that I can relate to this problem with you all ..I have noticed  that after eating it stars up ..this could be at my desk or at home .I had a MOT with my doctor and after blood results my cholestrol levels came back at 7.1 so I have been subcribed Statin and referred to a cardioligist for the irregular heart beat as heart trouble is with my family .. Iam a 58 year old female in the menopause and take HRT but  started taking  very bad night sweats ..I have mentioned this to my doctor in the past but at that time I did not have the heart racing problem so I think she thought this was down to hormone levels

After reading the symptoms for Hypoglycemia it mentions night sweats & fast heart rate ...maybe this is the answer to the problem! I dont know ..but I do know its a underlying health problem that needs to be addressed.

thanks for reading

My 16 year old daughter also complains of this very thing. Her heart will beat very fast when she gets up after a period of inactivity. She Is not overweight and is very fit.

Her case is a little more complicated because she did have a heart arrythmia (SVT). This was corrected back in March via a cardiac ablation, yet now, 5 months later she suffers from these random, rapid beats.

We recently saw her Cardiologist and he assures us the SVT is gone, but appreciates the complaints about the rythms. She is now taking a beta blocker and feels so much better. The beats have slowed way down.

We have been assured these are not life threatening and these beats/rythms are her "new normal."
They are unsettling to experience, and when in the "mode" can cause one to be anxious, but be assured the rythms started first, then panic sets in - because its scary... Axienty did not cause the rythms. There is a difference.

Don't assume you have axienty or panic attacks. We believed her primary care doctor for too long.
Ask for an EKG, an exercise test, as well as a month long cardiac event monitor. This will track your activity and a pattern may be noticed. Don't take "no" for an answer.

Good luck!

Hello,

I had a bad episode last night of a really fast heart beat, that's why I am searching for information and I found your post. I got so scared that I called my neighbor since my husband was working and I was alone with my toddler. I notice that the post is pretty old, from 2011 but hopefully you can see my message and recommend me something. I was told last year that I needed to see a cardiologist after my EKG came back q little abnormal. That day the doctor told me to have it checked because it could be due to anxiety or a real heart issue. I haven't been to the cardiologist yet. The only traumatic situation from my childhood was my father passing away when I was 8. My family on my father's side all are very nervous people, one of my uncles retired really young because he couldn't control his nerves and anxiety. Today I tried to relax and then I went for a walk with my son, we stopped at the neighbor's house and talk for one hour or so to get distracted. As soon as I was back to the house I was feeling tense, feeling pressure-like in my arms and feeling just nervous. I ate, took care of my son and now I am laying down in his bedroom watching tv and writing this. All I am doing is praying The Lord for my health tonight, to feel healthy and active as I was and to have the peace to be able to relax my body. I will go to the doctor to have my heart examined but also I know that I feel more nervous than I should most of the times and it is a bad sensation. I keep my faith and I believe that it is possible to be healed and also relaxed to enjoy life without all these worries and feara, I want that miracle. Thank you very much. I've heard of that writer but I haven't read his books. Thank you!

Yeah I know what you mean... I'm 49 recently my heart started pounding like it's about to jump out my chest, though I don't hardly think it's a heart attack or heart problems, cause I had my heart looked a few months ago, they say it's fine so why does it still scare the hell out of me? I don't have to do anything for it to pound like it does, can someone answer why I have this problem? I was told menopause, but what do they know. STILL GOING STRONG. So I doubt it.

I have the same thing.. every time I go to the doctor and have my heart measured they tell me its too fast... I am just about to get that investigated but I also get horrific palpitations after eating too much sugar or gluten.. perhaps check and see if thats when it happens to you.. you may be Gluten intolerant. Perhaps also have your sugar checked.

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is something all of you may want to review/consider. I was diagnosed in 2011 after many years of mysterious symptoms/incorrect diagnoses. Best wishes!

Please keep checking out your symptoms. Dont blow it off. My 21 year old daughter had all of these symptoms and she was finally diagnosed with a serious and rare condition called pulmonary hyper tension. NOT hight blood pressure, Most women get it between 20 to 40 years old and theynever find out they have it until the later stages. Please make the doctors do all of the tests necesary, good luck
