I am doing an assignment and need to know how taking prednisone raises the blood sugar levels, I know it is fromt he adrenal gland, but what actually causes the change. Is their a certain time of the day that the levels are higher.

Actually I am trying to find the answer to this myself. I have type 2 diabetes and it had been under control, and in fact, my doctor had even taken me off my medication. However after I was on a treatment of prednisone, my blood sugar jumped from about 110-115 to over 300. I was told by my doctor that it was the prednisone and she reduced the dosage to 10 mg every other day. After seeing no effect on the blood sugar levels, I stopped taking it but my levels are still very high. It appears that my immune system is contributing to this but won't know until I get more tests done.
