I have Nasal Valve Collapse pretty bad on one side. It has bothered me for years. Here is what she stated. She wrote in the following notes" it would not change the outward appearance". I thought it is supposed to open up the nasal passage more (thus you SHOULD see a change). She is willing to do it though. Is she just trying to say don't be too excited. Or, does she mean it will look different, not perfect? Or is she stating the implant will not pull it open? What do all the experts here believe she is talking about exactly? Thanks. See her actual NOTES below::
Assessment/Plan 1. Nasal valve collapse Patient with extensive left external and internal nasal valve collapse after septorhinoplasty. He was offered revision rhinoplasty but could not proceed due to financial concerns. He inquired about Latera placement as an alternative option. I explained that we could try Latera given low morbidity, however, it would likely not change the outward appearance of his nose and may not adequately address his nasal breathing. He understands and wishes to proceed with left Latera placement. I explained I could also perform bilateral inferior turbinate submucosal resection at the same time to help his nasal breathing. Recommended to start Flonase and nasal saline irrigations BID. Risks and benefits of the procedure were discussed with the patient who wishes to proceed. Surgical coordinator will call to schedule.
