I'm sure this will br frowned upon, but I recommend a small amount of marijuana to help with the nausea. Making butter from marijuana is very easy. You can then make pastries or just spread it on a biscuit. It helps with both nausea and the lack of appetite.

Marijuana can help some with appetite, but there are other factors to consider. I recently had back surgery and was on a heavier dose of Vicodin than presurgery. Sometimes 12 pills a day. I was scared of long term depency and decided to stop cold turkey and return to non-narcotic pain killers. This was a bad idea. Intense stomach cramps, nauseau, lack of appetite, chills. I started breaking my pills in half and taking just enough to keep the withdrawal at bay. In addition to helping with nerve pain and easing withdrawal symptoms, marijuana can also cause depression in the following days of use. I have recreationally smoked for years (very little in the past year) so I had no problem using it to help. I experienced abnormal paranoia and anxiety during, and Two days after using, I experienced strong depression and anxiety. I can't pinpoint that was the cause, but I feel it was. I'm not saying "do" or "don't", but remember that prescribed narcotics can mess with receptors in your brain, and marijuana can easily jumble them more.

Also, anyone that has been prescribed in that duration should have been weened off over a long period. Consultation with a psychologist or therapist was probably needed. This sounds stupid considering the situation, but low dosage Valium can also help, although it am be habit forming. I have watched friends with addiction problems (specifically alcohol, oxy, and heroine) helped tremendously with short term use of Valium prescribed by a rehabilitation physician.
