I started Yaz 2 and 1/2 weeks ago for the first time. I used to be on Yasmin, but my bf says it was making me a little too emotional. After 2 weeks in Yaz, I've been having headaches and last weekend my ENTIRE body was aching, along with the back of my eyes. I couldn't even move my eyeballs because it cause such a terrible headache. I had nausea for absolutely no reason.
I'm not sure if I should change back to Yasmin or if these symptoms will be recurring on my second month on Yaz.

I asked to be put on Yaz to help with my severe mood swings due to P.M.S. and heavy menstrual bleeding. I have only been on Yaz for 8 days and I am very nauseous and my depression has amplified. I am crying all day long. I am 36 years old and have been depressed since I was 15. I feel like my depression is worse than it has ever been. I am going to wait it out at least until I find out what Yaz does for my periods.
Does anyone know if it makes your periods lighter and less crampy?
The side effects that my mind and body are feeling right now are similar to pregnancy.

I have been on yaz for a good couple of months now. The women who posted a few post under me LanaLou is correct. if the doctor doesnt check your hormone levels your screwed. I have to much testastaroine in my body, hence why im taking yaz. If your hormone levels are fine then you should not be takin yaz just to lighten or shorten your flow(no a good excuse) Yaz was originally made for women who had the hormone problem, like me.
I dont have any of the symptoms that the other women are talkin about, my sex drive is still there my breast arent sore and i have indeed lost weight. I was originally 203 and i am now 156. When you have to much testastaroine in your body it makes you gain weight and not be able to lose it. Yaz help with that it gives you the right amount of estrogine that a women needs in her body and makes the testastaroine back off a little.
Me and a co-worker take it and she has the same proplem as me with the abnormal hormone levels. We both love this pill. if you have any other question please feel free to email me: dziedzic_m@yahoo.com

I'll be starting my 3rd week of Yaz tomorrow. So far, my breast have been a bit sensitive and I've been a little nauseous a few times. I'm also taking antibiotics (tetracycline) for mild acne, so I'm not sure if Yaz is the cause of the nausea. I think I've been a more moody and snapped at my boyfriend a few times. I'm nervous about all the negative side effects I've read in regards to Yaz, but I'll try it for 3 months and see how it works for me...

I've been taking YAZ for about 4 months now. This is the first kind of birth control pill I've used, I got on it a month before I got married. I was working in an OBGYN's office and lots of patients like it, so I've decided to give it a try.
Being it's the first form of BC (besides condoms) that I've used, I guess I don't have much to compare it to. I'm a "curvy" girl, and I haven't gained any weight, which is good. :-) However, I HAVE to take the pill right before I go to bed, or I'll end up getting so sick I throw it up. Lot's of evenings after I brush my teeth, wash my face, take the pill...I'll lay down to go to sleep but get to talking with my hubby. Then it hits me like a TON of bricks and I'm like "Babe, I have to go to sleep before I get sick." It's that bad.
My periods have always been regular, 28 days, lasting for 6. On YAZ I normally don't "start" till the last day of the sugar pill. And the flow is just as hevy (not too bad, but just as) as before.
So, I go back to the doctor in a month to see how I'm doing on this form of BC. I'm thinking about trying NuvaRing? What I'd really like is an IUD, since we want to wait about 4 years till we start our family. But my Gyno will not do one unless you've had at least one sucessful pregnancy...

I have been on yaz for 10 months now. It's my first pill and I didn't have any terrible problems with it at first. But for the past month I have been incredibly moody and on the verge of tears almost all the time. I have a negative view of life that I shouldn't have. I have never been in this bad of a mood and nothing about my life has significantly changed. I didn't consider the pill was causing these problems because I figured side effects would have worked themselves out by now. But, after talking to my friends and doing some research I decided I definitely need to get off it or switch asap! Also my period still hasn't alligned with the inactive pills and my period lasts just as long and is just as heavy and I get cramps. But it did help with acne. Is this emotional change fairly common with birth control pills?

I started taking Yaz about three weeks ago. I finally just stopped due to the extreme mood swings. I am 37 years old and my Dr did prescriibe this pill without much research. After seven days on this pill I was on the verge of tears almost everyday. Everything was making me sad and emotional. After two weeks on this pill I literally couldn't stop crying, even at work. I would highly recommend having your hormonal levels checked before taking this one due to the high amount of estrogen it puts into your body.

Oh my god, has anyone had a good experience with YAZ?! I've been researching PMDD (which I belive I suffer from) and was considering going on YAZ to help with it but then I starting reading all the horrifying accounts about it on this forum! Just wondering if its actually helped improve anyone's PMDD symptoms. Thanks

This is my first time taking birth control really. I took OTC three years ago but only for a few days.
I am more responsible now so I am trying again. Im not entirely sure why but my doctor just up and started me on Yaz today.
After reading this site, I am a little nervous.
I will keep track of what happens to me here:

I have been on Yaz for 12 days and I have no idea why this drug is actually on the market. It has been ridiculous. I can't sit still, I'm anxious, nervous, paranoid all the time. I don't normally dream and in the past 12 days I have had 5 horrendous nightmares. I have had nausea, dizziness, fatigue and sleeplessness, irritability, quick anger, moodiness, and crying for no reason. I shake all the time because I am so anxious. I made an appointment today, I'm getting off of this pill and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone who wanted to stay sane. !

I've been on Yaz for a year now and I've had nothing but good experiences while on it. My acne cleared up, my periods got shorter and lighter, and I lost 5-10 pounds. My cramps aren't completely gone and I still have those moments, but I definitely don't have to miss any school or any events because of my period anymore. I've always been paranoid about getting pregnant because that's just my nature, but Yaz is a good contraceptive so far. Make sure you talk to your doctor about it and if you have any changes that make you uncomfortable then Yaz may not be the pill for you. Every woman's body is different. Make sure you talk with your doctor.

My OB/GYN raved about how great Yaz was and now I'm finding out the truth -- the hard way. Has anyone noticed sore, achy joints? It hurts to turn my neck, my thigh bones are sore -- is this arthritis or osteoporosis? I'm 47, in the middle of the change, have only had three menstrual periods since January 1997. Any thoughts on the use of Black Cohosh or Vitex, instead, as a natural alternative, ladies?

I've been on Yaz for a week and I’m miserable. The first day my headache was so bad I almost went to the hospital. Now I have a constant headache and I’m so irritable. Will I eventually feel normal again or should I stop taking it?? Please help? I picked this pill so it would help clear up my face…

I started taking YAZ 2 weeks ago; I am horribly sick to my stomach (like horrible morning sickness) with a pressure filled headache. I started this pill because I was having horrible cramps. I can't believe how horrible I feel .. no appetite, etc. I am just going to stop taking it effective now. I am not even calling the doctor for her opinion. I would rather suffer with cramps than put up with feeling like this.

I have been researching this pill every since my dermatologist prescribed YAZ to me for moderate-severe cystic acne. I hate being on any type of meds but nothing would help my acne and I'm not quire ready for Accutane yet... I know have too much testosterone going on. I also suffer from killer cramps, and PMS irritibility. I wouldn't say I have sever PMDD or whatever but I can be a testy b*tch pre period!
Anyway, I was on OTC for a while some years ago and it was great. It kept my skin clear, made me have no cramps (sooo nice), and my periods were very regular and ended soon after the last placebo, and they were light and normal. I liked OTC overall, but with time I noticed that I really felt like I was on drugs. I just felt high and strange. After a period of celibacy, I stopped taking it. I skipped a period when I stopped and had terrible fatigue and crying spells for a month or two after I quit OTC - it was terrible!
Yaz is a trade-off... I experience annoying nausea pre and post period. It makes you feel like you are pregnant! My periods are very light but they drag on with dark clot spotting for days into the new pack. It's just annoying. Also I get headaches and the worst lightning cramps the first 2 days!!! It worries me - i grab my abdomen like what the hell is going on in there??? I have to take a Midol or I can't hang. I also lost quite a bit of weight and I'm very slim as it is. Aside from the bad cramps the breast issue is crazy! My chest was soooo sore and they just grew and grew. It's great, but the soreness was annoying. I have just started my 3rd month and the side affects are slowly wearing off - I'm gaining weight back, and the cramps and nausea are getting better. I hope it will get better with time. I just love the way my skin looks, after having major acne for about 6 years...
