This is the third day of my third week on Yaz. The first two weeks were fine but I felt like c**p this morning. I felt like I was literally on drugs. I was lightheaded, nauseous, had a slight headache and my right shoulder was hurting. But now I feel so much better. I'm starting to realize the pattern. I take the pill at 9pm every night. Since I started Yaz I've noticed that I sweat at night and have a tendency to toss and turn. My sex drive is awesome but it does take longer for me to have an orgasm. When I wake up in the morning I usually feel fine except for fatigue. No matter what time I go to bed at night I'm really tired when I wake up and have trouble getting out of bed. When I'm in the car on the way to work is when all the side effects kick in and I feel like I must have snorted cocaine or something. I don't feel like myself. But, I've noticed that around 12pm those symptoms usually go away. I'll give it two more months and I'll give you guys an update on the symptoms.

I am SO glad I found this website/messageboard.

I switched to Yaz from Ortho Evra (the patch) in October. I felt the patch was making me really crazy the week right before my period, so my dr. prescribed Yaz.

First month was great- everything was normal, minus some light spotting...

November came and I started having these weird heart beats. Sometimes it would beat light and fluttery and sometimes it would beat really hard... I also became a little more anxious than usual. I am pretty high strung, but everything was stressing me out. Also my period was extremely light- two days of barely anything...

December was here and I was increasingly more anxious. I actually had 3 panic attacks. Two were in traffic and the other was while i was at my desk at work. The one at my desk was really bad, I could not pinpoint why I was having anxiety- it was just this sudden feeling of someting awful was going to happen so I played out all of these different situations of bad things happening. Also there was no period whatsoever. Well I take that back, it was due on Dec 25th, and there was a tiny bit of pink the couple of times I went to the restroom that day. I was also feeling bloated- but not an abdominal bloat, more of an upper stomach right under my ribcage bloat- it was weird.

This month I am still experiencing the weird heart beats and anxiety... I am still experiencing the weird bloat thing at times...

So discounting the faint pinkness in Dec. as a period, I am officially 2 weeks late which has never happened. I have taken several pregnancy tests (EPTs, not dr. office) and they were all negative... So I am assuming I am not pregnant- just really messed up from the Yaz.

I am glad I am not the only one experiencing these side effects. I have decided to go to the dr. and see if she can a. verify that these are just side effects and nothing else is wrong and b. perhaps a different brand

I know you've probably heard this a billion times, but it's different for everyone. I have taken several BC pills and have found that Yaz is the best overall, for me. My girlfriend took it and it turned her psycho! LOL! Basically, she was very irritable more than she ever was before taking the pill and mentioned how she'd get more emotional. I have to take birth control, so I needed to find something that didn't make me feel bloated, tired, or kept me emotional. Yaz isn't perfect, however, but it is better than most. I don't have bloating, weight gain, emotional side effects. However, I do get irritable more so than I did before taking this pill and I tend to get more of a patter of headaches, which really sucks. It's horrible when I tell myself how these side effects, above, are better than what the other birth control pills have given me. The pill regulates my body and keeps it normal. I tried getting off the pill, but my body bloated when I'd ovulate and get ready for my period. Plus, I had the worst pms. So, I'm one who needs to be on the pill. If Yaz is not right for you and you want to try to continue looking into other pills, try the NuvaRing. Many hated it, but many love it too. I tried it and it worked well, but I was too afraid I'd forget about it. Plus, I did get bloated from that one too. I hope this helped your decision. By now, you have probably stayed on Yaz or left it. I hope you found something that is right for you, if you got off of it.

Take care.

Kittyplace, i know it's been almost a year since your post, but it's always good to come back to your forum posts for replies. If there was no actual penetration of the vagina when he came, it's not very likely that you are pregnant. (But not impossible) Either way, if you are ever unsure if you are pregnant or not, i suggest taking a Morning-after pill as soon as possible. The Morning-after pill is the last oral contraceptive you can take before actually being pregnant after unprotected intercourse. It helps flush out the fertilzed egg. (look more into it online and researching) I suggest taking Plan B (It what i took when i had my first pregnancy scare), but ask your doctor or a clinical professional. The earlier you take the morning-after pill within three days, the more effective it'll be.

Best of luck to you in the future.

As for Yaz effects... i don't really know what my input is on this pill. It is the first and only pill i've taken so i really have nothing to compar it to. This my third week on the pill, and i would say that i have not been enjoying it. I feel like i've just been on my period for three weeks.

My side effects are as follows:
Increase in appetite, cramping, very sore breasts and constant mood swings...

Is yaz worth it or should i move onto a different pill? If so, any suggestions?

I can say I have been taking yaz for about 5 months now. At first it didn't really effect me other than not having a period for the two months. I thought it was a little strange. But now I'm fatigue all the time. Very emotional about everything. My breast have swollen and are very sensitive. And it did state it was to help clear up moderate acne. Well for me once a month it makes my face worse. usually i get a pimple here or there, but it has caused my face to explode. Anyway, After about a month of taking yaz my fiance and i have stoped using condoms. So i thought it was possible for pregnancy. However every test i have taken all come out negative. Whenever I take the sugar pills i don't really get a period it's just spotting for the first couple hours of my day and then it's gone. Also I feel that I haven't gain any weight but i do feel bloated all the time. Is anyone else feeling this way? I would just like to know if this is a normal side effect. Or if i should go back to the gyno for further testing?..

I've always been a little self-conscious, but most times I am able to shrug it off and be happy being myself.
I'd been taking Yaz for about 6 months. The first months were great! My acne cleared up, I lost a lot of weight, and virtually had no PMS anymore. In the middle of October I forgot to take a single pill, and ended up taking 2 pills in one day. From that point on my periods began to shift slightly. This week I started my second semester of college, which [as always] made me feel a little self-conscious, like everyone is.
However, a week before my period I worked myself into a panic because I "had nothing to wear". My mother and I regarded this as a hormonal thing that would pass, but from that point on it has been nothing but downhill. All the days leading up to my inactive pills I was bland and saddened by everything around me...when I began taking the inactive pills for this month my period didn't start and I was experiencing severe depression and self-hatred. I began to have panic attacks and horrible stomach pains, and felt as if nothing I owned was mine and that I wasn't myself. I also began to experience extreme paranoia.
I still feel this way. All I want to do is sleep but when I wake up I feel worse than before, and life seems unbearable. My period has started but it is extremely heavy. I talked to my doctor and I switched to orthotricycline - I hope I can begin to feel normal again because I feel like there is no way out of this. She also suggested Xanax, but I don't want to put any more drugs into my body.

I'm halfway into my second pack and so far so good. I gotta say these posts really freak me out, but I'm just going to focus on my own experience.

My side effects have been: breast tenderness/minor swelling, increased acne the first week, and low energy/dizziness (only the first month)

I can only expect for my body to experience these minor side effects, as it is experiencing a pretty significant shift in hormones. I'm staying positive that everything will stay normal for me and only improve.

My question is: Did anyone else experience increased acne the first two months? If so, did it clear up, and how long did it take?

Thanks.

I want to switch from yaz but to what? From yaz I'm having bad headaches and always seem to be sad. What birth control option doesn't have severe side effects?
