I recently started taking YAZ about 2 months ago. Since then I have experienced light headedness, sadness for no reason, anxiety, decreased sex drive and circulatory problems. Has anyone else experienced these same symptoms?

I've been on Yaz for 3 months. I was previously on Loestrine and had really bad emotional problems. Was really really depressed and finally switched. I feel so much better now. I haven't had any problems with the pill other then some irregular bleeding. My boobs also grew but not to the point that I would complain... GOOD LUCK!

I have been on Yaz for 2 months now. I started the pill to clear up my very mild acne and to regulate my period. For the last two months, I have had the WORST breakouts of my life. The breakout are so bad, they will leave scars on my face. I've been moody, irritable, on edge, and I've had absolutely NO sex drive. My breast hurt all the time... I feel like I could cry for no reason. This pill is worse than lo-estrin! I'd rather deal with the irregular periods then this misery.

I have been on Yaz for almost three months and it has been pleasant thus far. My skin feels different and I have lost weight. My family and friends ask me what diet am I on. Since I lost the weight I have been eating right. Yaz gets no complaints from me.

I have been on YAZ for about 9 months now (I began it after my son was born). I never had horrible PMS problems before, but this pill has seemed to work well for me. I have never had any of the problems other folks have mentioned, with the exception of a lowered sex drive (however, I don't know how much is from the pill and how much was from the pill and how much was from the fact I had just had a baby!!). However, after about 7-8 months of being on this pill I'm feeling like my "old" self again (this is a good thing). My period is like absolute clockwork (although it has been even when not on the pill), and it always comes on the last day of my inactive pills. But all in all I have really nothing terrible to say about it. As my body has had time to adapt to it, things have worked well. I've heard you should give bcp's at least 3 months of usage before changing.
Different pills work better for different folks, as our body chemistry's are all different. If you are really having problems with this pill, ask your GYN for another prescription. If you talk to them about the negative side effects you are having, they should be able to recommend something that may work better for you.

I have been taking yaz for about 8 months now, and I am 37 yrs old. The reason I began taking it was to regulate my cycle. My periods lasted at least 10 days and very heavy. Since on Yaz, my periods are now somewhat normanl lasting 5 days and medium flow. I do however a week before my suger pills, begin to have some spotting and will last untill my period has ended, so in away I still have a long period just not heavy and clotty. I am gonna ask my dr to prescribe a higher dose. Any thoughts? And by the way PMS are way better than before Yaz.

I started Yaz about three months ago. The first month was horrid. I had wicked mood swings. I would go from rage, annoyance, crying and manic at the drop of a hat. After I finished my first month, the mood swings ended but my breasts hurt and are swollen. I have gained a full cup size and have maintained it for all of the second and third month with no sign of any reduction (not such a terrible thing in my opinion ). I stopped cramping before my periods and the duration of my periods went to half the length (another great thing). I have night sweats every night since about one week into taking Yaz and I also have weird, emotional and terrifying nightmares every night which I never really suffered from before. I can not say that all of these symptoms are from taking Yaz but they are symptoms I never had on a regular basis (or ever) until I started taking it so I can only assume that Yaz has something to do with it.

i've been on Yaz for 12 days now and I've never felt so sick from a birth contorl pill. I thought it would help with my PMDD but it seems to have only made it worse. I never get migraines and now I suffer through extreme ones, feel extremely nauseous, and go from being nauseous to hungry. I also feel depressed and moody. Ugh.. I've been on mircette, ortho tryclen lo, and now this. Yaz has got to be the worse pill I've been on. I don't think I can take this anymore. >:(

I have been on YAZ for 4 months and it has been one horrible journey. My doctor prescribed it to me, because of horrible PMS symptoms and acne. The only positive thing about YAZ is that my acne did clear up. However, I have been on one roller coaster ride.
The first month I took it I was nauseated all the time. The second month I bled heavily every single day. The third month I had migraines every day and still do. I have always suffered migraines, but usually about one a month, not every single day. This month my weight has shot way up, even though I'm not eating more than normal. My breasts are abnormally huge and my face is swollen and very puffy.
I have turned into a monster. I don't recognize myself anymore. I've always been a happy person. Now, I cry all the time and I'm very angry. The tiniest things set me off. I ended up at a counselor's office recently, because I began having suicidal thoughts. We both agreed that it has to be YAZ causing me to feel this way. I'm getting off of this trip.
I feel I've been used as a guinea pig by the medical community and I don't appreciate it one bit.

A couple more things I totally forgot to mention. Since I've been on YAZ I can hardly get out of bed in the morning. I've always been one of those people who jump up as soon as the alarm goes off, but not anymore. I wake up feeling like I have a hangover.
Also, I've been having excruciating backaches these past few months. It has been so severe it feels like back labor! I have not been able to get my doctor or her nurse to call me back about this, but I officially stopped taking this med this morning.

I am so glad I looked at this. I have thought I was crazy for the past 3 months (and so does my husband!) I have NEVER sat in the floor and cried for no reason... since I have been on Yaz, I have. Cranky, weight gain, adult acne, break through bleeding, cramps that I have never had before.. of all the BCP is have taken this is by far the worst. but how do you know what works?!? This is my 4th in two years. I hate if for us all, but I am glad to know that it is not just me!

I was on ortho tricyclen lo and was extremely emotional when I had PMS. I would burst into crying fits and was completely irrational. I switched to Yaz thinking it would help. I initially had headaches everyday and I woke up a few days in a state of panic - nothing real serious but I felt like I must have had a nightmare or something because I felt uneasy when I woke up. My periods have gotten shorter as I've been on it for 3 months but I'm completely emotionless...not happy and not sad. I also used to have over the top sex drive and now I have none. Even when my boyfriend and I start messing around I have a difficult time wanting to continue. I also have heartburn like I never have before even after taking hearburn medicine everyday. I eat a healthy diet and I know it has to be the pill and not the food I'm eating. I take a nap nearly everyday where I never did before. I feel like someone could give me a million dollars and I still wouldn't get that excited about it. I know I'm driving my boyfriend crazy with my lack of emotions and I'd rather have 1 bad week of PMS then a crummy day everyday.

The first two/three weeks were terrible; the initial period on it, followed by two weeks of awful side-effects. Nothing but horrible moods and feeling yucky. However, now I'm starting the fifth week and I have my period and everything, but I feel fine. My skin isn't as bad as it usually is, the usually moodiness only lasted a day (a VERY nice change my bf informed me). Yaz makes me nauseous when I take it, so I take it with a granola bar and that usually works fine. I've been on other medications that cause severe nausea and this one that problem clears up with food, so I don't consider it that big of a problem. I've lost three or four pounds, which was the reason I chose Yaz as birth control in the first place (I absolutely cannot gain weight for the activities that I do and my doctor empathized). My sex drive is normal (and high) which is great. Not sure how long this period will last, but I was on a five day cycle before, so as long as it doesn't extend it, things are awesome. Stick it out; things do get better. Usually I'm hit with a majority of the side-effects that meds offer, but this one does improve as your body gets used to the drug. Although, I may be biased considering I've been on some pretty hardcore medication, so maybe the side-effects don't seem as bad.

I started taking YAZ in the beginning of October. Being the first birth control i decided to take, I chose YAZ because I thought it would help my PMS symptoms, little did I know it would only make things worse. By December my energy level had dropped dramatically, I was always tired and extremely depressed. I would cry for no reason and have terrible mood swings. My friend even commented on the fact that I was acting bipolar. After being extremely happy and seconds later crying for no reason, I knew something was wrong. I'm not taking that stupid pill anymore, those of you have not experienced the side effects of YAZ, are lucky.

 I, like so many of you decided to switch birth control pills. I started on ortho tri-cyclen (original formula). I lost about 10 pounds and felt great. When ortho tri-cylen lo came out 3-4 yrs. ago I switched because I thought that a lower dosage of horomones would be better for my body. I felt okay for a little while, but started to develop headhaches during the 3rd week of taking the pills. I told my OBGYN and she switched me to YAZ. I can't say enough HORRIBLE things about YAZ. Not to mention anxiety, depression, breast tenderness and fatigue. I am typically a happy-go-lucky person and I felt like I wanted to crawl under the covers and die. I have never felt worse in my life. I finished the pack, and needless to say the other sample pack they gave me at the doctor is getting thrown in the trash. I can handle a little headache once in a while. Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, thank goodness for this stuff!
