im a 15 year old girl with pcos. im so scared and afraid. i feel so ugly and unwanted. i have hair all over my body and it makes me feels so ugly and disgusting. i was 240 pounds in august and now as of the first of the month im 216. im still working on losing more weight but all the hair wont leave and i cant help but think that no one will ever love me for me because i look disgusting. i think about killing myself so much and i dont want to die but i know that i will never find someone thats going to love a hairy beast like myself. my mom bought me hair removal cream for my sideburns and neck and i have used it but we end up fighting because she thinks im using to much but she doesnt know how it feels to be covered in hair with the exception of the inside of hands, i need someone to tell me what to do. i know everyone will probably tell me laser hair removal but thats expensive. is that the only way? please, i know no one with pcos and i need to know. thank u

oh honey ...you are loved and you will be loved.

Lots of women have PCOS - I have it. It is not always connectedto excessive hair growth, but its main symptom is hormonal imbalance and increased number of follicles on ovaries. Secondary symtoms may be easy weight gain and as in your case hair growth (due to hormones).

Regarding hair removal creams - they have a short term effect and hair usually grows back very quickly because the root of the hair isn't damaged. So, yes - I understand you want to use them again and again... but your mother is right - you might end up with skin reaction and trust me, that's something you don't want to have.

What about visiting a dermatologist and going through permanent or at least long term hair removal options with a doctor? Let him or her explain you what are the options.

For example - laser hair removal. It is a lot more expensieve comparing to creams but it works on the long term!

There are also less expensieve laser options for hair removal (no mass vello is a spanish franchiese for hair removal and they charge by region; for example one arm $40; and the same as with laser you have to repeat these sessions at least 5 or more times...).

if you have problems with hair on your face, I would definitely go with laser removal. But for the remaining body (legs, arms ..) I undersatnd it is extremely expensieve - so why not try wax removal?

Talk to  dermatologist or a good cosmetician and they will help you decide.

And regarding your weight loss - BRAVO!

I know it;s not easy and you have still some weight to lose, but you already did a great job.

Love yourself - in a few years when those hormones of yours settle down (and trust me - they will!!!) you will look back and you'll be glad you didn't do anything foolish!

Laser usually works very well on dark hair. I would suggest however to wait till you're 18 by then your hormones will probably "stabilize" , by then you can use waxing ... besides you can save some money for laser by then. Thebest would be to talk to doctor or specialist in the area.
