my father had a sudden collapse of heart beat..pulse was zero for more than 40 min..finally after 45 min it was a miracle that he had improved and finally he has undergone with angioplasty bcz there was an significant block in an artery which was expected..he is nw fine with the cardiac history but since it was a sudden collapse his brain functional activity is disturbed..there is no organic damage of brain..his wbc count is high with a bit ups and downs of blood pressure and pluse..doctor has suggested for EEG ..what is the major reason for his abnormal irrelevant talk?

Hi! I found that during a cardiac arrest, blood flow to the brain can be considerably decreased. This can lead to some brain damage due to lack of oxygen (which the blood normally brings). As a daughter, you can give the most support by taking care of him and by being supportive. Talk to him, give reassurance, and have patience. A lot of people with a brain injury do things that are not rational, or that may even hurt your feelings but this is not intentional. Take care.
