:-( I am a mother of three small children. My husband died after suffering a heart attack. He initially survived the MI after being revived at home and undergoing angioplasty on the posterior cercumflex artery. He was transfered to ICU where within about two hours his heart stopped again. His death certificate states Refactory Ventricualr Fibulation- Was this due to the initial MI causing heart damage or something that was undiagnosed? He was diagnosed with high colesterol-and was a smoker-not over weight, no other health related problems or sympyoms prior to the MI?

While I realize johnnad probably will never see this, perhaps it will be of value to someone else who may come across it.
johnnad's husband had high cholesterol. This could have contributed to his MI. Atherosclerosis and its consequences are responsible for approximately 80% of sudden cardiac deaths in the United States. Everything is fine and then WHAM! Out of the blue comes the MI. The heart could have been severely damaged by the first overt MI, even though he was revived.
People, this is a prime reason for getting control of your cholesterol levels and eating properly. You can't see the damage and it may seem as if everything is perfectly ok, then BANG! It's the big one.
