I have only just this week been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism....having battled alcoholism, anxiety, vertigo, racing heart, weight loss, sleep disturbance, high metabolic rate, etc since 2004. I also was diagnosed as Bi-polar which i now believe was Mis-diagnosed. The link seems very obvious and I do not understand why the medical profession do not make the link...or at least investigate it. I feel almost relieved to read that I am not alone in this and to have some sort of reason for what has gone on in my life for almost 20 years

I am in the process of being diagnosed. My blood tests came back with very low tsh and normal t4 so doctor thinks it's subclinical hyperthyroidism. I had an episode or afib about 4 months ago due to what the doctor said was alchohol. Now even if I have one drink my heart races and I shake. I also have vertigo pretty bad. Just hope I can get a proper diagnosis and something to help

For all those with the red face and acne thing that is Rosacea! It may be caused by the thyroid but also is genetic. I had a few treatments of photo facials the kind with IPL and I have them maybe now once a year and the rosacea is gone and I mean gone along with acne and melisma . I know my thyroid has screwed with my drinking because I had never been drunk in front of my family until 2!days after starting my pills. I've struggled ever since I can have a little but if I have too much and I mean more than a couple glasses of wine in a couple hours I won't remember a thing. No one can possibly convince me they arnt related. I just wish someone would put it together and right a realistic and medical based paper on the topic

Now i know the reason why i’m experiencing severe palpitation after a shot of liquor. Also, there was a time i collapsed after having a glass of wine. I just found out from my doctor that i have hyperthyroidsm. Alcohol is really bad for someone who has thyroid problem. No more alcohol for me.
